It's kind of premature to get upset at a First-Haurchefant showing up considering there isn't even the slightest hint so far of that happening.

Fear of what introducing doppelgängers from alternate realities/parallel worlds may bring to the story is causing the advance hate before the final result is even presented.
but as I said before, majority of people we know may have their doppelgängers dead or turned into Sin Eaters in the First due to the Flood of light covering majority of the world and the only place we can go in 5.0 are the few remaining places that have not been consumed yet.
not to mention as I said multiple times, the doppelgängers does not mean that everything in the past is undone since these people are completely different people with only similarities are their name and appearance.
Treating a doppelgängers as the same person is rather a result of the mind not being able to accept the person as a different person simply because the appearance and voice of the person is the same as someone they or we knew. Though this is a common plot for alternate realities/parallel worlds since the mind and/or heart of a person is trying to tell themselves that this person is not the same person but the memories of the person we know prevents people from accepting this at the sametime.
It is like the Flash with the multiple versions of Harrison Wells or the different Peter Parkers of the Spiderverse which each had different life and different results in their life to be completely different people such as in Spider-Gwen Universe of Spiderverse, Peter Parker gave into his darker nature thus instead of becoming Spider-man he became the Lizardman and died fighting Spider-Gwen.
As for Harrison Wells example, well the Flash series basically shows it with how different each Harrison Wells are to a point they are completely different people.

They could also take it in a different direction and introduce Mid on the First. Regardless of whether FirstCid is still around that would give us someone in Cid's role without it just being Cid himself.
Imagine if it ended up being FF14 version of Cidney and she tells us the First version of Cid is dead thus she took up his role as the First personal Cid after First Cid's death.
I would be so angry if that happens..because in the end he would still not be our Haurchefant. (The trauma that the WoL would have to go through by seeing another version of him..)
I really dont like that they are doing that. I want to explore a shard that has split for so long not because I want to see known faces in a new way but because I want to explore a whole new unknown world. That the scions are with us is way enough for me..
Still mad XV called her "Cindy." Cidney is perfect. Though, because of XV, not sure how liable this is since to happen. Wouldn't be mad though.
German version had 'Cidney.'
I have to say, if they show known characters with a completely different background and life choices, it could be interesting... But as others have already discussed, it can also dull the game because 'oh, they are fine in any of the shards'. So, conflicted on that.
I'm taking Lore way too seriously. And I'm not sorry about that.
I can't actually agree with this if the doppelgängers has lived a completely different life because that would be just treating someone who only has the same name and looks like a person we know as a replacement for someone who already died.German version had 'Cidney.'

Considering the First version of a person will stay in the First and continue to live a completely different life from those in the Source that person should still be treated as a different person and we should never feel fine about what happened to the person we know in the Source.
The only time this may become a actual issue if they pull that one "plot" where the two Alternate realities/parallel worlds fused together in the end of the story. Then we will get into those issue but at the sametime the plot most likely will heavily emphasize that they are different people and we should not treat them as replacements for a person who already died.
If they go the doppelganger route, even further anyway, I'd want it to be Mide (I think that's her name) from the Alexander story. Minus *touches scar.*
Only where it makes sense, because the 'split' occurred in the recent past, e.g. time travel with alternate timelines, like Avengers End Game.
When the 'split' occurs multiple generations past, then the same people being born becomes a little hard to believe.
I wouldn't be against similar characters though, like a female 'Cidney' who builds our airship, or a 'Sir Baymeric' with red hair who's an enemy or something, if it's not too much of it.
