As for your loss, if you can think of the most valuable item, or something precious to you that can't be re-aquired another way, you should be able to have the GMs do a one-time retrieval. I know it's a far cry from everything you lost, but one thing is better than nothing? Be aware that they will only do this once, so just be sure it's worth it to you for a single item...

I personally would have put everything in my inventory/on a retainer anyway rather than risk it, especially items that I can't replace (or can't *easily* replace). And its not an issue of the GM's not wanting too, they don't have the ablity to solve your problem. There are special task groups assigned to research/ handle issues akin to this, but they would fall into "bugs" ie, people loosing things they shouldn't have in a transfer. Your particular incident wasn't a bug, it was "working as intended* and clearly stated you would loose your items.

So normally I would have done this and been more careful, but it was the last day of transferring for free and I already had to deal with disbanding a guild (this wasn't guild housing, just a normal apartment, we were small.)
That's what I'm trying to say though, it wasn't clear to me, and I had done a fair amount of researching that day before I did it. I had read all the warnings and still thought that if items were in my storeroom they would be safe from deletion. Obviously I missed something along the way. I would love to get my stuff back but I also made this post because the GM had suggested it, because if I and others have made this mistake maybe I can help prevent someone else from doing it, and maybe in the future they could state more clearly that storeroom items would also, for sure be affected. Even in Final_Fantasy's post it still doesn't state the storeroom is also affected.
I had a friend tell me he had friends make the same mistake and the gms told them the same thing so i was pretty prepared for my answer. I had to give it a try though.

I'm sorry if you felt I was being rude. I was being blunt. You made a mistake, you need to accept the consequences. You can't go through life expecting others to fix things for you every time you screw up.

To make an exception for you would force the GMs to make an exception for every other player every time. They'd never get anything else done because all their time would be spent restoring items to careless players.

It's not reasonable to expect regardless of how long you've been a customer.

Nah, don't care where the OP used to be or where they went. What data center someone plays on seems to be far more important to you than to me.

I'm just tired of the data center and world bashing that goes on. It's pointless and does nothing to make the game a more enjoyable experience for anyone.

I understand, but the way you take that frustration out on others just trying to have a conversation is also tiring. I apologize for the joke in any case.

I directed a comment at one individual who was not interested in the discussion in another thread and instead was far more interested in bashing a data center. You're the one who decided to take offense at my response and have continued to carry your attacks on me into other threads.

Perhaps we can move on now?

    1. Nobody was "bashing a data center". Someone asked a simple question and you responded rudely for no reason.

Yes, I did take offense to the way you treated them, however:

    2. I'm hardly attacking you, but I'm sincerely sorry if I caused you to feel that way, or even feel the need to use that sort of language to describe what is happening.

    3. Sure we can move on. I don't know you IRL, or where this mentality comes from. Perhaps you were the victim of something in the past that has caused this defensive behavior, but I've learned my lesson. I won't engage further, and I wish you happiness.

Big yikes. Being rude and then using the non-apology of, "I'm sorry YOU got offended."

By the by, I had a friend who played FF14 in ARR. She deleted her character one night because she had a big fight with a close in-game friend of hers. Hasty move made during a time she wasn't mentally herself. You know what happened? A GM kindly restored her character but also warned her that a note would be attached onto her account and that if a situation like this happened again, there would be no character restoration. Funny enough, I don't think she plays anymore, but at least her character is still waiting if she wants to come back.

It doesn't hurt to try to see if a GM could help you out, Luec. Worst case scenario is that they say no.
