I'm still failing to see how it doesn't make sense for it to be used as a glam, but I'm going to let this go because we're all just going round and round for no reason lol.To put it very simply:
The blazefire sabre is a Sword that TRANSFORMS into a Gun so in sword mode it has not got a firing mechanism hence just another sword hence PLD.
The Gunbreaker Weapons are Swords that ARE Guns so you do both at the same time (well not even technically that because it doesn't shoot it explodes but semantics)

It's pretty simple. The Blazefire Sabre is an incompatible weapon to be used with Gunbreakers because it is not a Gunblade. It is a Gun and a Blade.
It's like asking for GNB to be able glamour whips. How would they use their skills with a whip? How do they shoot cartridges to vibrate their blade?
It works for PLD because it is used in its Sword form as a.... you guessed it.... sword.
I mean if "it's glamour, you only see a whip but its a gunblade underneath" why stop at the blazefire sabre? Why can't my Warrior glamour a abacus but still Fell Cleave you? I'm fine with this restriction for the sake of immersion.
Does blazefire fold into the gun to be compatible with MCH?
I was more asking if it did that. i dont like the look of blazefire and dont play mch. It seemed the topic was going in a "it doesnt work because its not that". though i admit to skimming this since its all so circular.
If it doesnt work that way, it might be safe to assume that isnt how SE see these kind of decisions...
that being said, since i showed my face, ill chime in on this particular echange. I do think its just as reasonable to see blazefire as a "gunblade" as much as it is to turn into a completely different model for an unrelated job. seems like splitting hairs at that point to me. I think the main reason we wouldnt see a GNB use one is because the blazefire is part of a specific set of weapons that are particular event items that are 1/job. SE isnt the type to retroactively change items like that. or add any.

This makes absolutely 0 sense. Ok I admit the functionality is slightly different but when it comes down to it a Gunblade is a Gunblade.

Your reference to using a whip is just silly and not even remotely in the realm of a gun or a blade. May as well glamour a giant Tuna Fish for all that matter.

Except it's not.
Like, even Yoshida says this when referencing why Gunbreaker is using the gunblades they're getting instead of the Garlean "Gunblades" (Which he wishes were never put into the game)
Not all "Gunblades" are VIII style gunblades, which are the type used by Gunbreaker.
VIII Gunblades cannot shoot projectiles. Their trigger is purely for sending a shock down the blade while striking with it as a sword.
XIII "Gunblades" are just a multi-tool that can fold between a Sword or a Gun. They are mutually exclusive. You cannot fire the gun while it's a Sword and you cannot strike with an edge while it's a Gun.
XIV Garlean "Gunblades" are guns attached to swords. Essentially being guns with extra long bayonets. They are designed to shoot projectiles or be swung as a sword. Theoretically you could shoot as you strike with the blade.
As such, neither other version of "Gunblade" is an accurate substitute for Gunbreakers arms. At best the Garlean ones might work because you can just say you're firing blanks or something to get the same effect. But XIII's one is a completely different weapon, even if it is referred to as a "Gunblade"
It is the equivalent to saying that Machinist should be equally capable of getting a Rocket Launcher, Shotgun, Minigun, Assault Rifle, Hand Cannon, SMG, Sniper Rifle, or Rifle. Since they're all "Guns" right? Doesn't matter if Machinist uses a one handed, semi-automatic gun that fires bullets. A gun is a gun. Right?

The biggest reason they won't do this is because then people would expect new XIII weapons for all the other jobs who didn't get them as well (So every job that wasn't in the game at release). And also probably two-handed weapons for CNJ/WHM and THM/BLM.
Personally I wouldn't be opposed to it but I don't see it being even middling on the list of things to get done in this game.

To be fair, Hope's boomerang was changed into an expanding electronical book and Sazh's handguns into fist weapons.
And they made multiple versions of Edda's Scythe for lots of different jobs.
Y: I usually compare FFXIV with a theme park, but the Forbidden Land of Eureka won’t be a place where everyone would want to go. For example, there are people who don’t want to go to horror houses because they don’t see the point in getting scared on purpose. For example, on a date, the boyfriend might want to invite the girlfriend to go the horror house, but the girlfriend just doesn’t seem to find it fun. In other words, it’s not like everyone wants to go to the horror house, but there are people who just love the adrenalin rush they get from it. Think of Eureka as something like that.
The coddled forum majority and casual player base is generally, from my experience, way more toxic than Reddit ever has been. People on Reddit are just more honest because they can be, unlike here where people cry and report someone just for breathing.
