handheld games don't look like ugly phone games.
You will either love or hate the new art style. They were facing an up hill battle in converting anything from sprites to 3D models. I think the fact that the mouths don't move with the dialog is more jarring to people. I don't hate the purely emotive idea that they have going on. After all, the game was very expressive with its sprites in the SNES days, but it doesn't feel right to me for some reason.
The game is still worth buying. It comes close to giving you your childhood experience, but it isn't quite there yet. If you don't think it is good for full price, then try to watch for it on a steam sale.
