No, if he hints at anything, everyone runs to the MB and flips the market over to prepare. Or, they might be finalising the system still. Saying "they're getting rid of overmelding" based on what Yoshi hasn't said is a reach.
Well Yoshi didn't want to say anything at all about the new materia, so we literally have no clue if over melding is gone or what.

i said "high chance" and look at what they have done they have removed all main stat materia, made tank accessories have vit and str and added two meld slots to all accessories. That points to them not wanting crafted gear to be go to items.
but also true that doesn't mean over melding is going but they are going out of there way to make it kind of pointless
My 70 gatherer has scrip gear. Crafted gear has lower item level, but I suppose HQ and max melds will be better, but I'm not willing to pay millions of gil for it, so I'll be continuing with scrip as my max ilevel.
Would be nice if DOL/DOH had gear drops in dungeons.. Set what job you want to receive gear for during the run.

The only thing he was cagey about was confirming if there was a new Tier VII of materia or not. Add by cagey, I mean he basically said "lol I'm not saying yes or no, but yeah there will be VII and I just don't wanna come out and say it cuz spoilers or balance or something."
The only thing they are getting rid of is main stat materia because it has always been pointless, like elemental materia. All gear already has capped main stats on them and outside of using vit and str to do things the devs didn't really want you doing anyways, all main stat materia has always been completely pointless. They're just doing what they should have done years ago.

i agree with this, i always hated that tanks were either expected to pay millions in accessories or be shunned by any decent raid group just because SE didn't put both stats on the accessories before now and the obsession with damage over being a normal tank but that is a different issue. The only thing he was cagey about was confirming if there was a new Tier VII of materia or not. On a different note though i always thought over melding was stupid so would be glad to see it go, it is the rich get richer type of system since only those with stupid amounts of gil can spam the 2% chance materia melds

Materia was only particularly costly in ARR and early HW. Cracked Clusters, babyyyy.i agree with this, i always hated that tanks were either expected to pay millions in accessories or be shunned by any decent raid group just because SE didn't put both stats on the accessories before now and the obsession with damage over being a normal tank but that is a different issue.

With note on penta-melding accessories for strength: Yeah that was cancer and I am so glad it's gone.
I wouldn't mind no overmelding for DoW/DoM, since that is not a really integral part of the battle system. Not being able to overmeld crafting/gathering gear, however, would completely destroy a major component of the crafting/gathering endgame progression system, and would not be welcome. Seeing as Yoshi-P said flat-out that overmelded gear would be important to completing the Ishgard restoration stuff, though, I see an exactly 0% chance of them removing it.
Just because you personally don’t want over melding to be removed for crafting and gathering, doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Only way to know is to wait 2 weeks and see for ourselves.I wouldn't mind no overmelding for DoW/DoM, since that is not a really integral part of the battle system.
