Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

For those interested in possible male viera body types, I was also told by an FC mate that there is a magazine of fan art being prepared to show support for male viera.

Most of the art shown does not appeal to me, but I wanted to share in case someone visiting the thread was interested but lacked the site location for such information.

I just posted my vision of male viera to show my support. I personally like my design and would fantasia if they looked like that. I don't think it's child-like at all. It's just my style. and how is a 6-pack child-like, anyway? loool granted, only one of them is toned, but I would personally go for a less toned look.

Just because this character isn't big, bulky, buff, or "classically handsome" doesn't mean it's child-like. Not all men are those things. There are some thin men out there, too. I don't consider myself child like and I'm pretty thin.

Its a bit sad that your art is seen as something childlike even though its just your adult version of them. I mean this is how adults in a lot of bishonen manga are often drawn but seemingly those are children too? And since they are similar to Au Ra women in built (as in being slender) then i guess I am a child too?

Everyone can like what they want, so lets just not try to put down another view just because they are not your beauty standard.

Uh... kids having 6 packs is not common. However, slim guys are a common thing.


Yoshi P described male viera as handsome, slim, and elegant. Gon from blade and soul is none of those things. You're the one hijacking the race here.

Yoshida also said that "... if it is a customization option that significantly changes the shape of the races body I think we would be better off to tackle the challenge of just introducing a new playable race altogether instead."

so shorter elezen necks and better proportions are a no go.

But as people have pointed out now, multiple times, the term "slim" is not well defined in this context, especially since some people seem to regard Au Ra males as "slim", which I admittedly find bizarre. We also have older concept art that straddles the line between Elezen and Au Ra, and is what I'd consider to be pretty muscular.

The irony here is that during an interview, Yoshi said ""If we did create a male design for the Viera, he would be quite elegant, handsome, and slim. He would look more like the Elezen race, but with bunny ears." hell even the female Viera look very similar to female Elezen, right down to the proportions, its not a stretch to assume male Viera will look very similar to male Elezen.

As I pointed out in the past, the interview you're quoting from was discussing them in the context of how they would differ to male Hrothgar. Thus "more like", a comparative term. People seem to be hanging on his words, without allowing for the fact that there is still enough room in interpreting such terms to make them bulkier than Elezen without any loss of the "elegant" part.

Not changing the OP. I already explained why. I think you continuing to get me to change the OP can be considered harassment at this point.

Also, I do think he's hijacking the race, and also this thread. This thread was meant as a support thread first and foremost. Part of showing your support in a positive way can be to post your art of male viera. Having my artwork shut down like this goes against what this thread was made for.

I can't think of a single piece of artwork that has been posted here without some criticism and commenting on it is scarcely shutting it down. Also, I consider editing the OP to be a good idea when one of the forms has been ruled out by Yoshi P, as it will understandably raise questions about why it's still in there in a request thread, where the concept in question has been ruled out in no uncertain terms.

As someone who has always really liked the idea of playing an Elezen, but then instantly regrets the fantasia, Viera are definitely a bit of "Elezen done right" to me.

I've always wanted them to have softer/rounder features (like Aymeric & the twins), better proportions, and perhaps remove that stick from their bums while they run.

Insert Viera! They've got the height and the more serious personalities like Elezen, but they were able to remedy the things I didn't like about Elezen.

Now obviously these are different races, and I feel that they do look/act different enough to not be a problem - but when you compare the two side by side, it's not a MASSIVE difference. If they gave male Viera the same type of "upgrade", I think that could work quite well.

Just a couple of examples for you:



These aren't perfect comparisons - the first picture was taken with both of their faces looking straight at the camera. The stances are a bit different, so I think it's a bit harder to gauge from this angle. For the second set, I had the clever idea to make skin/hair match better, and also tried to have their navels in the center in order to get a more accurate shape comparison. Again, not perfect, but at least will give an idea

I personally think this would be very good. They could do something similar so they don't have to refit so many gear, and can ensure keeping up with the patch cycle and bringing them to us here at 6.0

Was there anything to the columns in the datamines? I heard that they were an indication of more character model slots being allocated? or was that incorrect.

Basically, the devs intentionally left space on the code to add the missing genders and space to add 4 models after that too

That maybe is just a voice they gave the female vieras because they knew some ppl would want to play as androgynous males, or maybe it's just a mistake. I mean, I do think male viera is coming, but I doubt that is the thing that proves it

also, I can confirm that female viera have the exact same body as female elezen, so it's veeeery likely they didnt have to refit 10k pieces of gear (if any) to their new body. This makes me think male viera will be the same as the females, an elezen with better proportions and bunny ears

I just checked the voice thing, and I think it's likely a glitch sadly
