Honestly imo I think we should of got viera full race, they seem to be more involved in the story since we have their village as an option (we could have hrothgars too but idk) but I think the reason they did the genderlock and so they could be like “hey SE we need more money and people to fix this” so if we got a full race I doubt the other would come so instead of adding one they decided to split it so it’s basically mandatory to add the other genders later on. Think this was all intended so we get 2 for 1. Tried explaining the best I could do, if one race was added then we might not of got the other but they genderlocked it so SE will see the complain and maybe give them more resources to fix it.

It saddens me how quickly people I'm this thread are able to denounce Hrothgar and their inclusion in the world. Rather than support the inclusion of both, they think the race they want should have been the only race. This isn't targeted at the entirety, because there are many good people here. The ones that are doing it know who they are.

There's only plausible reasons why they added Hrothgar:

1. Shareholders forced him (WoW/Elders Scrolls players), so he shoehorned Viera since he knew that's what we wanted since 2012/2013
2. Viera to him is nothing special so he shoehorned Hrothgar

The first one is a really sad state of affairs, it shows a really greedy company who doesn't care about what the fans want.

The fans wanted Viera and a beastly race and they tried pleasing both, can we please already stop pretending they did this to intentionally screw up those who wanted bunny people.

If Hroths were truly the originally planed race, I think they should've stuck with it rather than ditching them for Viera, because at least then the limitations would've been consistent, or maybe there would've been none at all. I don't think holding back Viera because equality is right, but I don't think resenting the Hroths for it is fair either.

If we put it like this, it would be more logical to have full Hroths and don't have Vieras. Mostly because we already have human-looking races with animalistic features, but didn't have beastial races.
However, we have what we have (because they tried to please two audiences at a time, and did succeed at one hand, but failed at another hand) and I hope we can see counterparts, that both options do deserve to have, in some foreseeable future.

Are you completely ignoring the fact that they were trying to please two sides when they included the new races? Yoshi stated as much. Otherwise it would have been just Hrothgar, from the sound of things. There's no reason to blame Hrothgar for the lack of male viera. So stop acting like that's the situation.

If you read a couple pages ago a lot of people were saying hrothgar should of been the race added not viera so I was stating my opinion on it. Yes hrothgar are in the world but we don’t know why yet, we don’t really know their area (if we even visit it) I’m not saying hrothgar shouldn’t of been added and that’s why I talked about my theory on why SE did the genderlock.

I've heard two different stories in the interviews he gave. In one interview he said they planned Viera first and told Matsuno that he could use Fran if he wanted. Then when decided weather to do Male Viera they thought this MIGHT be the last time they added races and decided to go with Hrothgar to please the people that wanted a more Beastial Race.

However I've also heard that Hrothgar were planned first and when it came time to do the females they went with Viera because they have been requested so much.

I'm more inclined to believe the first statement. For one, they revealed Viera way earlier than the Hrothgar and said the Hrothgar trailer was only ready the day before they revealed it. They had to update the images on the Shadowbringers website when they updated the models. The Viera in the Benchmark also appear to have more put into them than the Hrothgar do. Hrothgar's hair being tied to their face to me says they shortcut that so they would be ready by Shadowbringers release, rather than getting every hairstyle to work with every face model. So I think Viera were first and then Hrothgar came last. Could be wrong. Only the dev team and God know. Only time will tell if they were right in their decision to not do one full race and instead two half races.
