I don't believe in spoon feeding the players, however I believe a sure reward should be given the tougher the battle. For example, I don't want 100% drop for killing a rat, but killing Ifrit/Moogle should have very high drop rate for the reward. And by reward, I don't mean dark matter or something stupid not scaled with the toughness of the monster. Otherwise it feels like you are about to bite on a delicious reward and get it pulled out just as you bite, it hurts.

So, spoon feed the reward AFTER the complex and strategic content. The players earned it.

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
    (Marvelous economics IQ test!)

There is a big difference between Legendary Weapons and Primal Weapons. The biggest difference is NOTHING will be better than them, they will offer the highest DPS of all weapons, they are Legendary. Primal Weapons on the other hand can already be out beat with multi-materia'd weapons. Therefore they are logistically speaking too /random to obtain for their own output.

Especially being that weapons that were similar in power back in XI's early days (the Avatar weapons when they were first released) were pretty good, Garuda's Dagger, Ifrit's Scimitar, etc, and it was a 100% guarantee that you would get the weapon if you chose it as your reward. Honestly it really is a "lack of continual content" that is why the drop rate is so low. They NEED us to do things over and over and over for mediocre rewards or we'd really have no reason to log on (sometimes the truth stings the worst). Honestly I would not be surprised if post 2.0 we see the Primal content drops get a massive increase in the drop rate, because then it would be 'old news'.

I'm not saying there isn't a difference. I think legendary weapons, once obtained, should be BiS for a long time. All I'm saying is that people will complain it will be too hard or take too long to get them an then come here and whine and cry that they wont ever be able to get one.

I agree with OP its frustrating how times have changed and the direction gamers are heading,
no one want work for stuff. Its like valkrum Dunes example, back in 2002/03 when FFXI was new many ppl quit
after just getting to the dunes but other took the challenge became better at the game. Time passed and V dunes were easy pray and then the same for HNM, sky, sea, ect.
