I've kicked players for wearing the wrong gear!

Yeah yeah, I know that's a loaded header, but hear me out!

I wish Square-Enix would put class restrictions on accessories like they do with the rest of the gear.

I can't tell you guys how many times I'll get into a group with a caster wearing a mix-match of DEX/STR rings and other accessories that don't offer them any use to their class. And to top it all off, literally every-time I've ever mentioned this to someone--the response is always extreme hostility or extreme arrogance.

I'm totally cool with new players who don't know better making mistakes and then willing to learn and improve. That's great, they get a pass, because they're trying! I'd never kick someone for trying.

But man, I ask some folks why they're using a strength ring on their blackmage, and they say it increases their hit chance. I tell them that's not right. And they blow up on me. Those are the people I kick. And I do it way too often for it to just be a fluke. Like once a week often.

Is there a way we can fix this?

Are you talking about below fifty or above fifty.

If it's below fifty than from where I stand, that's just silly. I have played every job in leveling dungeons on the way to fifty with the best jewelry (and sometimes not even as good) being the stuff that you start the game with... because I wasn't going to waste gil or time to get jewelry for classes on the way to fifty when it's unnecessary.

You can manage to do your job in the leveling dungeons and "get through it"... also some times people don't know (I actually had a friend think fifty below caster gear was what they should be wearing since they wanted higher magic defense even though they weren't a DoM). Even if you encounter that teaching and not kicking is always the best thing.

I'm talking like at 70 most of the time. I see it the most in the lvl 70 24 man content. Then probably the 50-60 roulettes (with the ironworks/shire gear), but that's usually not an ignorance thing.

But the vast amount of people I argue with are lvl 70. Which is why I bother to bring it up. You're right, it's silly to get hardcore on a pre-level 50 player. I honestly let those folks live and learn on their own. No reason to rush it--just as long as they get it eventually, right? lol

(Edit) I also give a pass to people who switch jobs and KNOW better, but that's just the best they have. For example. Someone switching to a lvl 50ish WHM, and only having the healer Ironworks ring and maybe the tank one. These people know, and are just improvising with what they got. I can understand that.

It's just the massive amount of people who literally believe that they need DEX or STR on a SMN, or need all DEX on their tank. Drives me nuts. Like why do people believe this stuff!

The only non-DRG-specific main stat I wish I had a lot more of is VIT.

You can never have too much VIT.

That sounds like you are abusing the kick feature. Let them have wrong gear what does it matter to you as long as they are not that undergeared and you get through the content. It's not your job to tell them what to wear. Geez some people really have a problem with others doing things not their way. If they don't want to take your advice leave them be, it's not that hard. If they are rude or really drag the party down than it's okay to kick everything else is kinda toxic.

I mean... If you enjoy running low level dungeons that take forever. Or worse, wipe over and over on some higher end content. Thats some extremely backwards thinking!

I neither coddle nor encourage playing wrong. I just think it's not worth making a big deal out of it and kicking players. You forget some people play for something called fun. I encourage telling them that it's not the optimal way and if it's gear for the looks that they can glam it but how long are you stuck with that player? 1 dungeon. Do it, get out and if you in a hurry to finish a run, maybe don't run low levels dungeons where you bound to encounter sprouts. I know empathy is hard to understand but you should try it once in awhile.

My friends and I have come to refer to this phenomenon as "Warrior Of Light Syndrome". There is a really bizarre culture of arrogance in this game that newer players seem to develop. People come out of the MSQ acting like they are the absolute master of the game, and will often get into aggressive confrontations when someone points out that they're wrong about something.
I don't really know how to phrase it properly, but if I could restructure this post--it would be to bring more light on people's absolutely aggressive and emotional responses to any form of constructive criticism. Because let's be honest. If I was the jerk--no one would agree with the vote kicks. People mostly go with them because the target player was being toxic regardless of what the conversation was about.

But I also want to be blunt "Why are you wearing STR on a caster" instead of having to type a paragraph just to sugar-coat my true meaning. I'm not offensive in my questions. But I am blunt. Yet I get a lot of people who are incredibly toxic.
