Wait and see for 5 before making up your mind.
I play WHM SCH and I'm finally getting around to leveling AST...
They all play very differently for me.

Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.
Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!
While that may be true, it might be better posed as the "least bad" deal. They could all be improved.

I main Scholar - and while I will miss the sense of accomplishment I felt at keeping the tank alive while I cycled through getting my damage flowing, I'm okay with it.
I rolled healer to heal, not to be sub-par DPS. If I wanted to DPS, I'd be playing one of my DPS classes. I only DPS'd as a healer because it was expected of me and I'm a team player - that's it.
If you all are leaving healing, then have at it. I'll still be here healing your butts.
I second this, I DPS's because I had time to, it was expected and I wasn't just going to stand around doing nothing, but I hated it. I'm fine with throwing out the odd DPS spell, but I want to be healing, DPS'ing as a healing for most of the fight never thrilled me it's actually why I moved to Tanking during 4.x.I main Scholar - and while I will miss the sense of accomplishment I felt at keeping the tank alive while I cycled through getting my damage flowing, I'm okay with it.

While I've fallen in love with DRK and love it's changes, the healer changed may make me go back to SCH (go super fairy) at the very least I'll be healing a lot more now.
Looking at the the proposed changes for healers brings very little excitement. Many on the other hand are saying that the uproar and saltiness is not justified since we haven't dived into the new content yet.
I guess, as a main healer, the fact that I am not excited for my class and am expected to be excited about my job with the new content worries me. Sure healing o4s almagest was fun the first couple of weeks. Gets really old towards the end.
As a healer, your main job is to manage a resource which is the HP pool of your party. From that point there are two ways to see it:
1) You balance your dps and health of your party.
2) You manage the incoming damage and outgoing heals.
Healing was always very complex, since you were trying to balance both aspect of the game. During progging you will be more focused on the latter balance, while once you know the fight you will be more focused on managing your dps. From the changes, the devs wants us to focus more on the latter (having our dps skill set been slimmed down). This does raise the question, what will you be optimizing on once you know the right balance of incoming damage and outgoing heals? Hence, disappointment of us becoming mere healbots.
Shit, RIGHT NOW, playing as a healer can be boring. And then they take more options away from the two more interesting ones and made it more like the least interesting one(WHM). Truly these developers have no clue what they are doing, I have always played healers but I truly may drop the class entirely as a protest.

That's fine if you feel that way, but the class was introduced a certain way and they should retain it for the players who have been maining that class. Not make the job cater ONLY to players like you.I second this, I DPS's because I had time to, it was expected and I wasn't just going to stand around doing nothing, but I hated it. I'm placing some hope in this. If they manage to keep people on their toes by reducing the amount of heavily scripted periods in fights, it may make up for the "boringness" some people fear coming from the lower amount of DPS skills healers will have.Yoshida: If you take “Alphascape Savage V4 (O12s)” as an example, after getting passed “Archive All” mechanics were looping and repeating. Especially from raiders from overseas the feedback was “Oh well, its just repeating…” and they felt rather bored. We want to avoid this, so for “Savage” and most likely for the next “Ultimate” as well, we try to keep repeating mechanics to a minimum and have waves of mechanics hitting the player.
You'd have to optimize "on the fly", which is something we don't do much currently.
Sauce
It is essentially one dmg skill now, the others, at least on SCH are underwhelming and not optimal...the other 2 out of 4 spells that is.

I wonder how the changes will impact the healer population and affect the queue times. Considering there's no new healer job coming, a potential lower number of people playing healers at all could become quite an issue where people begrudgingly play 'the boring role' just to get through the content.
But you never know. Maybe MORE people will play healers.
