Well but let's have an honest discussion.

    1. You're comparing job to race and gender
    2. Your job doesn't have a physique requirement

Race physique and looks is determined by the environment that race has been living in for over thousands of years. Lalafel fit in perfectly in the sands of Ul'dah and the plains of Vylbrand.

Now, could have Lalafels been added as jungle warriors? Sure, but this is where we hit a wall; female viera exists. This not a brand new race that doesn't have a counterpart to inform us of what the males would look like, so much so that we already have art for them.

You can't run away from this

The problem is you can't reach that jungle warrior description going skinnier than male Elezen.
The first day of World Visits on Crystal was wild. Everyone and their mother smashed their way onto Balmung to see what the fuss was all about lmao

It's less the job and more the fact that Lalafell exist in this world period. Because they, and a bunch of petite female races, exist we have to accept that we can’t apply real world logic to Final Fantasy logic.

irl, I am the same height as a female Au Ra and the Au Ra of the steppe are supposed to be dangerous. By irl logic if I had an axe and you were unarmed I would be dangerous… but overall it’d probably still be easy to take me down axe or no axe. Im in good shape and could swing an axe decently (I can chop wood no problem and played softball in highschool/college) but ultimately I’m incredibly petite. The entire steppe arc is kinda silly to me, someone who is 5’1”, because my boyfriend (6’1”, significantly shorter than a min height male Au Ra) can easily pick me up and throw me if he wanted to. Magnai, a 7’2” muscular male who has spent the bulk of his life swinging a comically huge axe should be able to lop my catgirl’s head off with ease. But irl logic =/= final fantasy logic and in this game we are to accept that tiny females can be “dangerous”.

Logically, a race of amazon-esque people (as in, people of the Amazon jungle not of an Amazonian Wonder Woman-esque trope) would be short, lean, and weathered by years of hunting/gathering under the harsh elements of a jungle. An aged Viera should look less like a supermodel and more like Yoda. We are supposed to accept that a 100+ year old Viera female who has lived off the land her entire life is still stupidly pretty. Could a male Viera be muscular? Yes. Could a male Viera look like an instagram model? Also yes. Could a male Viera look like Pipin? Unfortunately, still yes lol.

Don't get me wrong: I LOVE that concept art. You can check my post history. I want male Viera to look like that (or like FrischeNq's art ). But in the same art book that released that artwork and at the same event that revealed that concept art, we were also shown

By this game's logic, if we are to accept Pipin as a threat we cannot rule out unsuspecting strangers & unwanted Garleans going into the jungle and get shanked by bunny ear’d underwear models. Is it kinda silly? Yeah. But for better or worse Final Fantasy™ has always been kinda silly like that.

FF is fantasy based on real life. I don't have to go further than that. The races obey the core laws of real life: Males are taller and stronger than their females, this is true in every case. The races adhere to the enivornment they live in. Lalafels being the exception, they could have lived anywhere. But try to make me believe that Elezen could have been placed in the Azim Steppe and I could do nothing else but laugh...

The women that lived/live in the Amazon jungles of South America are not of the warrior category.

Moreover, as I explained before, the height of the race could be anything when they're a brand new race. Viera isn't a brand new race, they're a tall race described as ruthless warriors.

FF is a fantasy based on real life, the males (by definition of what a male is) will/have to be be beefier than the females. Beefier than the females puts them in the male Elezen category, but we already have male Elezen so they would have to scale up to be beefier than male Elezen (who are a really skinny race to begin with).

That's the image of what a viera boy would look like. The problem here is that I see too many people trying to make male Viera everything under the sun but what is logical, what the devs already drew. I'll be damned if a bishounen "man" is a jungle warrior

Jungle and Bishounen should never belong in the same sentence. They had their chance with Elezen and their brand new race the Au ra.

You could plop Wildwoods into the Steppe as easily as you could plop Xaela in the woods. Why are the Xalea males huge and females so darn small? Theres no explanation for it on the Steppe. A female is expected to scale Bardam and fight in the Nadaam so one would think that male Xaela would pursue tall female Xaela to produce LARGER, STRONGER children... but smol animu wives are hella kawaii to warring peoples (ie. Fantasia sales > logical lore). Do really long ears and gangly limbs serve Elezen better in a forest vs. open plains? Not really. Their hearing is worse than Lalas and their long legs don't make them faster, quieter, or anything. They look like that because that is roughly what Elvaan looked like.

That official artbook makes no differentiation between "vera man" and viera boy"- that is concept art of a potential Viera male. If you need proof I can take a picture of my art book later today.

Viera as we know, are tall and lithe: until some point in puberty, males and females look similar. At puberty do male's ears grow freakishly long? Do the males get extra fluffy hair? We have no idea because we have not seen seen them. Yoshi said he imagined them as tall, thin, and elegant like the females. Matsuno said he imagined them as low% body fat and somewhat muscular. The art he reblogged (imo) fits both ideas. Lithe, bunny eared person in borderline fetish-y clothes (for no discernable reason)? Thats a Viera, all right. "Jungle" and "Bishounen" 100% belong in the same sentence when its "Final Fantasy races include Bishounen of the Jungle". This series protags tend to boil down to young, beautiful people with gravity defying hair, impractical outfits, and oversized, overdesigned weapons fighting evil/god/fate/any-combination-of-the-aforementioned. No one missed any chances with Au Ra/Elezen. Again, for better or worse, Au Ra/Elezen fit Final Fantasy to a T: they're pretty, youthful (sans the old person face), and physically capable of holding a giant sword regardless of their setting. There is no reason to believe male Viera could not follow that aesthetic.

Personally I want some muscles, somewhere around Au Ra build-wise, though not as disjointedly giant next to the ladies BUT theres nothing that says they ~need~ to be bulky or incredibly rugged. Thats just as much a headcanon as twinks in the trees.
