Kneejerk reaction to PLD changes.

This might have been to even out the off tank role, nerf cover so it's not as useful to just eat a buster for the main tank when you could just give them intervene, to try and avoid PLD being forced into the OT role by giving the other tanks similar tools and nerfing cover.

If that's what they are trying to do they should have given us one more mitigation tool then so we are even with the other tanks when it comes to being MT. Even with the cover changes I think PLD is still going to be shoehorned into the OT role in savage and ultimate.

Dont forget that either nerfs to PLD/DRK or buffs to WAR are coming 100%. Right now PLD is first at dps while WAR is third (DRK deals a bit more than WAR but barely) when it was estated by Yoshi that WAR will be the highest dps tank. So probably expect PLD 4.0 all over again where it was overtuned then promptly nerfed

Please stop spreading this misinformation. Yoshi NEVER said this. He said war will have the strongest attack referencing inner chaos (900 pot atm). He did not say war will be the highest dps tabk. Almost every thread has a salt post misquoting yoshi on this. Please stop spreading this flasehood.

If WAR somehow doesn't end up as the highest dps tank (present potency estimates aside), then the WAR community is going to complain until the devs make it into the highest dps tank. We saw this in 4.x as well. This job catering and entitlement is what has brought this game to this point.

I suspect that tanks and healers will be in short supply this coming expansion.

Just thought of this but if you are on Gunbreaker or Dark Knight and screw up your cooldowns you can always just use your raid wide mitigation ability to make up the difference especially if there are not any raid wides to worry about in the next 90s (this does have to be a magic tank buster on drk). That's really nice to have that flexibility so you could combine Heart of Light and Heart of Stone, I'm afraid if I screw up my cooldowns I'm just going to have to pray a sheltron is enough or that my co-tank is a gunbreaker and can give me Heart of Light and Heart of stone. If dps of Gunbreaker is sorted out it will be top OT I think.

And yes. Right now it looks to be basically that with pld>drk>war for simulated dps which also aligns with sustained vs burst. Pld most sustained, highest dps. War most burst lowest dps. Drk middle. In a real fight with downtime etc, the sustained will loose some the burst will gain some. We wont know how much real fight shift the numbers until release, but this is the right approach to achieve in-game parity. Though gun is the outlier and just kinda....bad. but hopefully they will get some tweaks before release.

As long as all the tanks are close in actual fights I'm happy. I really dont care who is on top or bottom as long as the gap between top and bottom is small.

Yes I am of the same opinion. In 4.0 I didn't mind PLD being behind WAR in DPS so much because PLD brought a lot of utility so it was ok we didn't do as much damage but DRK should have been at least equal to WAR and by the end of the expansion it was almost there but not quite. This expansions it looks like every tank is going to have a lot of utility so dps should be on equal terms with them all in my opinion.

Are those calculations taking into account the constant 10% damage buff from Darkside and Storm's Eye? At a quick glance I don't see anything noted for those on there.

I don't understand all this passive agressive WAR bashing in general, we play the same role, how about we just get along and wish for the best for all of us. We all just want to be viable and have fun in this game.

The changes were not made because Warrior had bad DPS, they were made because they completely screwed WAR up in the beginning of Stormblood. This job was a mess in a gameplay perspective.
