I personally am a little excited for the new changes. I really hated getting 3 or 4 boles/spires in a row when I could never use them. I am sad that they made it a little more simple to play, but it does take a little rng out of the way. Maybe now I won't have to pray as much to rngesus at night anymore .

I simply will never play a healer again. Unhappy with all of the changes to healers, but AST's most of all.

Oh well. So long as they entice more new healers than alienate old healers... I guess life will go on?

What makes the Astrologist THE ASTROLOGIST, is the Card Reading feature/skill. It's what they are. It's what they do. They're like fortune tellers. They READ the fate of the stars through their CARD reading. Exchanging the cards for a "Coin flip" is like changing the WHOLE CLASS from Fortune Telling into a Gambler class. You might as well make a NEW class called Gambler who base their fortunes on "coin flips" or "dice rolling".

I like the Card system as it is, and I would hate to see it changed.

Thank you! The expac isn't even out yet, we don't know what it will actually play like. We don't know how it will feel in the moment, we don't know how the AST changes will interact with the tank changes or DPS changes, e.g. we don't know how the average tank will use their new kit. We can look at everything on paper, sure, but a lot of things look one way on paper and a different way once the human element is actually introduced.

We had the illusion of choice, maybe, but 99% of the time the cards mechanic was just fishing for a spread balance and flushing everything else to fish for a Lord, or maybe MAYBE tossing a spear to the Bard.

Or spearing the monk because they get meditation stacks from crits.

Or Arrow on the BLM.

Or Ewer when your co-healer died and has no lucid.

Or Bole your tank during a big pull to huge boost their defense.

We get it. Those other cards are situational. That didn't mean you always ripped them apart. Having all the cards work like balance defeats the point of there really being multiple cards, unless you really wanna count are upcoming 3 minute cooldown to give aoe balance (that doesn't take thought to set up anyways given how many draws you're gonna do)

That's assuming it actually is turning into the "coin flip" it's being described as here.

To me it sounds like the actual process hasn't changed much at all. You're still drawing cards and identifying which party member you should give them to, even if the decision process is simplified.
