I actually agree with OP. Give XIV players a free month of XI or something and keep XIV down for a few months and come back with a huge, awesome update. Plus it would help the power crisis in Japan.

Your post is like the pot calling the kettle black, seriously XIV is nothing more then a paid extended beta, we know it and so does SE, a Beta requires servers and hardware. Aside from that anyone who knows anything about business knows you need to spend money to make money, all the box sales SE had from CE and Standard has already more the paid for this. If you do not play XIV then do not visit these boards with retarded assumptions and accusations, until you get off your arse and buy a copy of the game, and play it regularly then comment on what SE should and should not do.
Also be aware SE pulls in 2 billion annually BEFORE any FF profits so its not like bringing the servers online harms SE bottom line.
i spent my time on xi and hated it. i got to level 15 and hated the 1,1,1,1 only actions.

to most of the people on this board thats not an obvious thing and taking down a game with a tiny not paying playerbase is the dumbest thing they ever heard of.
oh lawls XD
exactly, its just a beta, so why not keep it down, save money and energy and come back with more of the crucial updates the game needs? betas go down all the time do they not? WHen they need power over there as bad as it seems, this would be the time to do it.
and i own the game, CE actually, biggest dissapointment in ages, its a running joke in FFXI.
Seems like we have a challenger for belgianrofl trolling trophy '-'
Seriusly man, i can agree in some ways, but they're a huge company, they can do their calcs. If they judge more profitable turning on, they do.
