Perhaps, with Suzaku coming to light in Stormblood though, I guess we could simply pass it off as that, rather than the truth? We met an actual live Phoenix, rather than some phony summoned one, although that does call into question how we got Primal-Phoenix aether to build a Demi version, but I'm sure the layman doesn't know Summoners mechanics in that detail anyway.
Firebird Trance is Lv72 though, no? I guess that's not technically a summoning, but it's still us deciding to use Phoenix aether in exactly the same way we ended up using Bahamut aether, without guidance.

According to Larryzaur Phoenix itself spawns at lvl 80. So i guess we have phoenixes aether since the Coils arc or something[?]Perhaps, with Suzaku coming to light in Stormblood though, I guess we could simply pass it off as that, rather than the truth? I told my friends during the benchmark trailer that he was using broil 3 and was most likely a sch in the trust system. They all said I was grasping at straws. Oh time to make them eat crow.
Also I honestly think that Urianger should have been the sch. Has the man even seen the night sky enough to be an astrologian? Last time I checked he lived in the waking sands next to a pile of books.
We have Bahamut Aether due to the Calamity. In the Flames of Truth Cinematic, we see that Bahamut was defeated by Louisoix and it is only later we learn that he became the entity known as the phoenix. At the end of that Cinematic though, Louisoix and Bahamut both disperse into Aether that is then showered over Eorzea.
When we attuned to Bahamut we went to Cartenou to evoke it. It is not a stretch to assume that when we absorbed the residual Bahamut Aether, we also absorbed Phoenix Aether as both were dispersed at the same time. I think that there is a line in either the coil questline or the lore book that affirms that the only reason Eorze recovered so quickly was due to the rebirth and rejuvenation aspect to Phoenix's Aether and that it embued the entirety of Eorzea - it is therefore not a stretch that this is how we gain firebird trance. It was always there, dormant beneath the Bahamut aether we already use. Of course, based on this, it is arguably plausible that someday we will get Shinryu as a demi summon also. Though - to caveat that, there is also a large range of candidates for our next summon. But only those we HAVE to face I think can and are candidates.
I'm so looking forward to going into the dungeons with them!
When the Trust system was first introduced I thought I wouldn't use it anyway and it was more something for players who don't like doing dungeons with strangers. I won't be able to do the dungeons with my boyfriend, but well, we can still do everything else together in-game. ^^
But reading how the characters have dialogue and behave according to their personality in the dungeons makes me want to try out all the different combinations.
And the menu when choosing them reminds me of the old FF games. The whole Trust system reminds me of them.
I haven't watched any of the videos with the Trust system yet to not spoiler everything for me, but does anyone know if you can get loot if you do dungeons with them, like with the squadron?
And I also want to have a carbuncle as SCH. Why does Alphinaud get one and I, as the WoL, can't have one?
I haven't watched all of the available videos, and I'm pretty sure for the Media Tour all the loot was changed to a generic "Potion" but I'm pretty positive that the loot goes to you and you alone. Ah, here's the interview I got this from: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...TSZ3M1S5o_hgg/
and the questions relevant:
Unofficial translation, grain of salt, etc.So if we go solo with Trust NPCs, how will the rewards from the treasure chests be distributed?
The feature will remain the same as the Light Party setup. In the case of going solo with Trust NPCs, just imagine having a treasure chest and the equipment drop rate being ¼. However, you’ll definitely obtain at least one piece of equipment after defeating the last boss of the dungeon.
Will items other than equipments drop from normal treasure chest as well?
That will be the case. Though our internal team have discussed how to handle problems like this several times, but I can imagine everyone will hate on Thancred if he manage to win the draw every single time and obtain every single piece of equipment here, so we can’t let that happen and made it this way (laughs). After all, it’ll be a problem if we program Trust system to be overly efficient so I feel bad for saying this, but we have made adjustments with considerations to its overall balance.
All the videos of the new dungeon show that they also use their skills in a very in-character way! It's pretty great. I laughed at Alisaie charging across the bottomless pit while Urianger waits for someone else to cross before using them to move himself...and Thancred just uses shukuchi.
