Does your group has DPS issues?
Yes: Tell your DPS to do their rotation better before blaming your healer for not bringing a few hundred points of raid DPS utility.
    No: Then it doesn't matter.

Except a lot of people like to push their ranking even if they aren't world first/first week clear groups. So... to them it does matter. And getting that raid slot depends on them wanting you to be there.

Well, the solution is simple: don't listen to these people. And if you were about to join an average random group or static and they refuse you because of your job, then you dodged a bullet, because these players were probably terrible.

"Oh, if they don't want you because you got nothing to offer to them, don't worry, you dodged a bullet! Just search a group that doesn't care at all, even if they are horrible."

    Right.

SE just don't seem to understand this issue. Fluid Aura should have been repurposed as a GCD instant filler to help ease this problem.
    Honest question:
Is there anything SE understands about how healers are played?
    I doubt it...

Honestly, I think these changes will make AST and SCH a bunch less intimidating to the casual player stepping into early endgame content. Evidently it'll also make them easier for the trust AI too =(

It's just a shame that the min max potential took such a huge hit to get there.

I really wish it was that easy. I really do.

I was busy with RL towards the end of heavensward so I missed the brunt of it there, but not so with stormblood. It's really not pleasant. There's plenty of people are that civil about it, but... they're pretty clear about wanting an ast (even if they might take you because they can't find one). And yes, there are bad players that adhere to the meta without understanding it - but a lot of very skilled players do it too. To them, you're still the difference between that 94th percentile and 99th percentile they've been hungering for.

    Right.
If that group thinks that they wouldn't be able to get a clear (or that it'd affect their clear rate) without your very tiny raid DPS increase, then yes, good riddance.

Edit: Oh, and, WHM has a ton of things to offer. Raid DPS utility is simply not one of them. And it doesn't matter.

Let me get this straight. The world first group in UwU had a DRK, a WHM and a MNK. No AST, no DRG for their bard, no Warrior. So when the best players in the world don't even care about the meta, anyone who does (outside of the speedkill community) is someone you don't want to play with. Because these people simply don't understand how this game works, and simply go with whatever people told them, without an ounce of critical thinking.

If you, and everyone would stop caring about these people, FFXIV would be a better game to play. Unfortunatly, by making this thread, you show that these people who dictate things that are completly irrelevant even to them are still in the front of the scene. It should be time we turn of their spotlight.

I have to care about them to raid. It's really as simple as that.

It sure does make the pool of parties you can join a bit smaller, but it's far from being impossible to find a party to get your kills. Finding intelligent people is still very doable.
And again, the less spotlight you give these meta believers, the less place they'll take.
