But she or he has a point in game the situation won't do much neither for the victim or his family he has to act irl that case is of crime and the criminal must be judged because it will keep doing the same thing over and over again.

In game the victim can use the tool to ignore via blacklist or leave the team while practicing the dungeons if he encounter the perpetrator, however he must act according the law irl it's the only way to change the situation.

Don't get it heartily maybe she or he spoke in the heat of the moment not meant to be rude with you in particular.

I don't think anyone really cares how much you've spent on this game, but I do believe that if you are indeed being harassed SE should take action against the guilty party.

It bothers me that people go through such lengths to make another person miserable.

I dealt with it in my childhood
This is not the first report I've seen in this game of this type of thing.

While I acknowledge that there is two sides to every story, there is something seriously wrong with a person to carry a vendetta to such lengths.

Never been done? Let's dust of a recent story from Overwatch. Back at launch, you had an option that was called "Avoid this player". It did exactly what you think it did. It removed them from the matchmaking for you. You'd never be matched with or against them. So there was that really good Widowmaker (sniper character) on Japan(?) server. So good, people used that feature against him because he was too good and he destroyed everyone. He couldn't find matches for hours/days because people got salty.

Moral of the story, you may want a system for good reasons but people will abuse it and you may end up on the receiving end for something other than it's intended purpose.

FFXIV is primarily a pve game, so that sort of blacklist feature isn't ripe for abuse like in a game that is mostly pvp. Very rarely do people complain about being matched with good players in a pve situation.

An alternative would be to change everyone's player name to their class name like they do in PvP. Then it would be mostly a non-issue.

I think this is one way in which Japanese culture differs from American culture. I remember back in XI long threads requesting a two way friendlist system - the way it was you could put someone on your friendslist without them even knowing it and track their online time. They didn't even have to accept your friend request. We also asked for offline modes both here and there - that never went anywhere either. There are times when I just want to appear offline and do my own thing.

I can only assume that it's because this bad behavior just isn't an issue in Japan like it is here. Many of my friends and I always hid our gender because it's like painting a target on your back if people know you are female. Either you'd get a guy stalking you or you'd just get straight up harassed. Over the years there's been less and less of that as more and more women actually enter the space (XIV in particular I think has the biggest female population I've seen yet in an mmo) but harassment in general can still be a huge issue, especially for those from the US where there's some real sense of entitlement among a certain subset that was the traditional target audience for games.

    OP:
I don't know that there's a solution other than leaving your server\datacenter, changing your name and doing your best to sever ties, especially if SE has refused to do anything about it. If you're flushing 200$ a month into this game already, surely another 25 for a transfer isn't breaking the bank.

It still can be abused to "mimic" that outcome: Person A gets into trouble with Person B. Now B tells their FC, all of their friends, maybe even strangers to blacklist A - bäm! A has a much harder time to find parties now. And seeing how unofficial blacklists are already a thing in japan... I can only see trouble coming from this.

Besides making matchmarking much harder for the software because now it has to take into account that A and B cant play together and B has C blacklisted, but A and C could party together, so they can be matched with D - oh no wait, A is on Ds blacklist too...

Right you are. I doubt people would avoid good players. Let's try the other way around then. What would stop good players from blacklisting all bad players? They're not mean or rude. Just an annoyance that your 10-15 minutes runs transform into 25-30 minutes ones. If enough people coordonate, it could effectively lock players out of any duty.

Honestly I don't know why SE didn't bring back FF11's account wide blacklist. One blacklist and the entire account was done, including all alts. I mean, it should be clear if I blacklist someone I don't want to talk to the PLAYER, my opinion isn't suddenly going to change because they're on an alt.
