Shadowbringers Main Title Screen - Kinda Ugly.

I fully understand that yellow and purple are what you put together when you want complementary contrasting colours - I just don't think the title screen is using them in the right way.

The background behind text should be a contrasting colour to the text. Yellow text on a purple background would be fine.

White text on a pale-yellow-and-purple-striped background looks like bad graphic design.


(Although the game already does this badly with the 'auto-playing' text that sometimes appears as white subtitles without a text box behind them. They can be incredibly hard to read, depending on the background of the image. Fine on a dark background, terrible on a brightly lit scene.)

My brother's a graphic artist, so I know color theory.

But the purpose of color theory is for people to like it and make it aesthetically pleasing. If people aren't pleased with it, Color Theory isn't working.

An additional thought on the title screen image - it would work really well as the PS4's "initial loading screen" that comes up each time you run the program. An atmospheric screenshot like this image is the sort of thing that I think works well, but all through Stormblood it's been an extreme close-up of WoL and Lyse's faces from their trailer fight, and I don't like it. So hoping the replacement will be something a bit more abstract like this - although fully expecting it will be Mr Dark Knight staring intently. >_<
