The stats of everyone's gear has gone up in the 5 years since. Even if they're level sync'd the stats on their gear are /not/, which means things explode even when you're lowered down from 70 to 50. If the people running them have good gear, as is usually the case in MSQ roulette because of the tomestone gains, it's going to melt.

As for the clearing dungeons, that is your right as a tank but you also need to understand that what other people want is important as well. If you want an authentic experience that suits your personal needs I'd put up a party finder in the future. Thankfully there's nothing like the MSQ dungeons going forward so you don't have to worry about that all that much.

Those msq dungeons are notorious for their issues and you'd be hard to find someone to defend them. It's also why SE no longer provides these type of msq dungeons. However, I guarantee by the time you are on the last msq 4 man dungeon of arr you will be gripping your controller bc all three bosses can be quite challenging and mean. HW the bosses in each dungeon will remain much more difficult compared to anything you faced 1-50. The fact that you have to wait that long is a flaw in this game. But I'd encourage to just get through arr bc you're almost there. Or at least get to Keeper of the Lake bc there are three bosses that tend to be nasty to new players (and are still frustrating when its your millionth time doing the dungeon).

I understand the issue you're describing, I really do.
My wife started playing the game 2 years after me, and she gave up on it because of the problem you are describing, and at the moment she is very reluctant to try again.
I get on one side that the people who have been playing this since day one are tired of running the same dungeon again at a snail's pace, especially with the insanely overpowered gear they have making all encounters trivial.
On the other side I get that new people want to see the dungeons and content in all their glory.


1. I think SE can tweak the DF tool better to match people based on their role as well as their overall class levels and playing time. Group new players together and group veterans together, with mentors being the exception since their job is to teach new people.
2. Honestly find yourself a good FC that runs dungeons with you in peace. Doesn't have to be a full group, but having one or two FC members along makes a huge difference in setting the pace for said dungeon. Our FC for example does this, not just dungeons.
3. Don't give up on the game yet. There's so many amazing encounters you still have to experience. You haven't even seen half the game.

Huh. how uncanny that we'd both have a group with a drg, brd, gla, whm under very similar circumstances.

I've been running DF as a WHM with a friend lately to help speed his dps queues. So most of the time lately I'm at least with one other person I know. I'm seeing some of the same things happening with different groups. Big one lately is tanks in right lvl gear but it's that gear that DRG can also wear, that has a lower defense rating than normal tank gear. Lack of job stones I've also been seeing a lot of. Had a very similar qarn run to the SV one but that time it was the MNK rather than a DRG, and the tank was a DRK in HoN gear dps edition. I felt so sorry for the MNK who was honestly trying to do his postionals while the tank jumped all over the place and ran in circles.

Would warn game tips about such cases. The company is aware of the problem. Every new player is angry at this. And they only made the cutscenes unavailable. WOW.

And emmm all dungs to late 5 years etc i mean 1-49. BUT BUT lol bosses dont die after 1 touch yes? So need to do the same with meridianum.

However. I now see my mission to clean the dungeon completely. Fully. I am a tank and I can decide where the group is going. And the group goes to clean the dungeons like a goblin slayer)

Don't speak in absolutes. There are plenty of new players who don't care about the state of Castrum/Praetorium/old content in general, and who don't desire for the other players in their party to literally stop pressing buttons just so they can see every attack a boss does.

And many players hate this rush tactic. Just open youtube video about this dung and look at comments. Still sure you will stick to your position. As I).

Wait, are we still talking about main story roullete from like a week or two ago? Honestly, at this point they should just get over it, like seriously.

If you were the tank and decided to pull everything (and stay and fight) I would just keep walking and let you solo fight the adds, while me and the rest of the group go through the teleporters.
