I hear Japan is also upset and disappointed towards the limitations. Also how it's extremely weak and shouldn't be solo. I just hope and wish the day that make Blu into a real job and none of this make believe crap. If y'all want to play solo go on other ff titles that's not mmo.

But FFXIV needs new content, and must have a job with its knee caps broken for others entertainment that barely anyone plays now.

Gotta have new content for the sake of needing to innovate the wheel over and over again. Despite wanting old content in the game instead of new stuff (demands for Blitzball and Viera anyone?).

I wouldn't even mind the limited job aspect if blue mage was actually super powerful like they said it would be. It feels weaker than every other job I've leveled at 50. Also getting some of abilities from dungeons is really not fun. The drop rate is too low on most of them especially primal skills. You basically have to force a friend to carry you through the encounter while you use diamond back and pray not to die.

Once you finish masked carnival there isn't anything to do but weeklies (in the carnival). I actually have enjoyed masked carnival though some missions can be frustrating and totally get why some people hate it.

If you don't like masked carnival no point in even playing the job right now other than to self-destruct in Limsa.

It pisses me off that this even made it past the idea phase, yeah lets just kill one of the most fun and popular jobs in ff and make it a shity minigame, becuase that's a good idea. They need to fix this now, not in 4 years not in 2, like 2 or 3 patches into Shadowbringers, instead of adding in "Hardcore" content that no one will do, but oh he said he's not taking feedback on blue mage right now becuase they just added it in. He's doing the same bullshit he did with 2.0 Warrior and 3.0 Astro, saying it's fine and everything even though its sucks. Maybe when he adds in his "Hardcore" content to it, and sees everyone still hates it he'll panic and just unlock it and bring it to 80.

... was it really? As far as I can tell, it's incredibly accurate: an incredibly gimmicky grind that had a few overpowered skills that would obliterate difficulty in certain situations, while being a handicap in others since you could have brought something that's actually optimised.

-Said by someone who hasn't played an FF with Blue Mage, but did play Bravely Default and unlocked everything for Vampire.

    It's not particularly accurate.

Most other games didn't even have "Grind" attached, since learning skills was 100% rate and many of the skills were frequently used. If anything, the "Grind" for most games was for everything but Blue Magic, where you'd grind for Experience or grind to learn skills from your weapons/equipment. The exceptions being certain skills that you could spend time grinding out to make more powerful (Such as Traveler in VI or Frog Drop in IX, though the latter you did to obtain Quina's Ultimate Weapon anyway)

Most other games a Blue Mage was a pretty good party member for the early-mid game because they had "Overpowered" skills that could help obliterate tough foes. While the later parts of the game, they simply had a standard kit but it was a versatile one. They had offensive skills and defensive ones (So they could use cheap spells to hit for 9999 damage like any other offensive Mage but also could provide Shell/Protect and healing skills)

    As far as popularity goes...

While I've never really been a big fan of Blue Mage or the Blue Mage characters, they have been popular enough to have a ton of people pester Yoshida about including them in XIV.

I mean you've played vampire so you know how good a BLU archetype BLU can be, Vampire was a sick physical support in bravely default, (firestorm was just ridiculous)

BLU, whilst its apparantly becoming known for weird gimmick skill, every job in classic final fantasy had weird gimmick skills. I think people remembers BLUs gimmicks more because you have to put in more effort to get them, for skills most players won't use. Just the presence of these skills though didn't define BLU, they had a solid support damage dealer kit in basically every game, usually revolving around mighty-guard and other buffing/debuffing, with some hard hitting aoe magic. But most importantly, why BLU isn't accurate in ffxiv to its roots. In its roots BLU is a party memeber. Its a support Party member that has meaningful contribution to almost any team. By making it a solo job/ limited job it has undermined BLU in the most aweful way.

"Hardcore content that no one will do"

People are actively STILL joining The Weapon's Refrain: Ultimate and The Unending Coil of Bahamut: Ultimate, as we speak.

People are STILL actively farming savage.

How many people care about some stupid dungeons that you just spam for exp?

Before you say that no one does hardcore content, there are enough of us.

Whelp the live letter went by and yep. He didn't say anything, he needs to cut his losses and now when he has screwed up, he need to fix this NOW. This is getting ridiculous.

There was nothing for him to say about the job though. He had already previously stated they weren't going to do anything about BLU until they had finished all of their plan for it (which as far as I understand it are an additional 120+ spells with levels to go with them). Only after we have seen whatever it becomes at the end of that journey will he even consider changes to the formula or to push ahead with it.
