I want to vent the story, but all that really happened was I lost aggro on two mobs during an AoE pull. The DPS who got flattened didn't use Lucid, didn't run to me, didn't do anything.

It really is just something that happens to everyone. It was my first time ever tanking Saint Mocianne's Hard, and I had to learn how to compensate for lag and bad enemy pathing. You know, things that shouldn't be a problem but are, and things you can't learn by watching someone else.
You get used to it, I wouldn't worry about it. If a DPS pulls off of you and doesn't run towards you, or use an aggro dump like lucid dreaming - or runs away from you - they deserve to die. Granted, you probably shouldn't have lost aggro on a couple mobs, but it happens, some of the big pulls can be very hectic, and I can say I have had the same thing happen to me when I'm pulling huge mobs.

I sometimes feel the lag on pulls too, like it feels like I should have grabbed adds, but somehow they just aren't getting hit by my aoe. Worst part is definitely when you miss an add and the healer decides they are going to run away as far as they can!

According to the WHM, the DPS in question opened in glorious fashion on a mob that had fallen behind while I was gathering everything up for Flash. It was doomed from the start. I thought I had hit it with Flash, but I must have missed it.

I could blame myself and say I shouldn't have lost aggro, but that's an oversimplified way of looking at it. I could blame the DPS for bad practice, Total Eclipse for not having an enmity modifier, lag and the servers being across the country and giving me 100 ping, enemy pathing, the fact it was my first time and I need experience, or any number of things.

The fact is, everyone is trying their best and giving it their all. From Yoshi P. down to me and the DPS. Just that none of us are immune to making mistakes, and all of us end up being victims of one another's mistakes.

There's always more we can do -- I could have handled it better -- but we have to learn what can go wrong, what our limits are, and identify the exact problem before foresight can really be a thing.

If I was tank and the RDM decided they wanted to solo fight some mob way in the back while I'm pulling, then they can! I'll pick it up after they die. Don't have time to manage a dozen adds AND some guy in the back too.

    Haha, I like you. xP

I'm chalking it up to that. But I'm going to try my best to make sure a DPS doesn't die like that again. I know exactly what I'm dealing with now, on all fronts, and my biggest hurdle is committing Provoke + Shield Lob to muscle memory. That'll be an easy barrier to overcome.

That wouldn't be me because I know how to use AoE (and lucid), but if it WAS, I think I'd rather face down my opponent one on one and see it through to the end anyway. Then not blame the tank if (if) I died. But one mob I think would usually be fine.
