People gave Ghostcrawler crap but he was way better than what WoW has now. He might not have always made everyone happy but he usually felt the need to explain himself and his decisions in detail in ways that made sense. I think Yoshi P and company do pretty well in regards to class balance though. Not in every aspect but I would say most. Where they have major problems is limitations that they sort of inflicted on themselves at the very start of the game and never addressed it (Arcanist and SMN/SCH for example).

In my opinion, “casualbringers” is an accurate statement, sort of. ARR - HW were the golden days of difficulty. Ever since 4.0 started, it seemed they really wanted to cater to newer players thus making the game a lot easier. I still enjoy the game though, just wish things were a bit more challenging like they used to be. Mainly crafting. :P

And yet we still have people failing Bone Dragon in LotA. Heck, I've seen wipes in places I never really thought was possible to wipe in on occasion. I haven't really noticed a difference, tbh. If there has been a decrease in difficulty it has been covered well by boss fights being much more interesting.

Ah, yeah that’s true. I mean, I’m really looking forward to the Yorha raid though! Who knows, maybe that will be hard. Not too hard I assume.

I imagine people also called it Casualblood, and Casualward, too. And of course, who can forget A Realm Recasual.

It's a new expansion. There's going to be that vocal minority that piss and moan about changes or details they personally don't like. It happens with every MMO and, dare I say it, every game that has a content patch cycle system in it.
I don't think it's a vocal minority at this point. People have been asking for a challenge for almost 6-7 years, but all they get is watered-down content and extreme simplification of something that is already too simple. It is fun to have uniqueness in games, but this is what happens when we have too much of the same thing.

Overall I'm gonna hold my final opinion until the embargo has been lifted, but some things shown has made me raise an eyebrow. I am all for reworking classes to make them play smoother. I am all for removing stupid things like the majority of role skills that no one uses or simply allowing redmage to jump backwards without going to their death. However, what worries me is them changing bard to make it more accessible and easy. This class already plays smoothly. After playing the nightmare that is mch to 70 I used bard as a palette cleanser. They are also removing heavy thrust. Why? Drg only has one dot to upkeep and bc its rotation is circular heavy thrust is embedded into every drg's mind to push at the start of the next rotation. I am also worried over them making party buffs weaker. Why? Class composition is part of the fun in this game. Could square not figure out how to make whm useful so now all classes gotta have their toys either taken away or nerfed into the ground?

The only thing that gives me hope is the English translation of them stating dps output will be decided by how well you play. But I can see downfalls to this too.

Given that in SB they removed a lot of cases where jobs had a single isolated DoT skill to maintain because such skills are pretty meh in terms of gameplay. I was personally surprised that Heavy Thrust continued to exist given that it was essentially the same thing. Press this button once every 30 seconds.

Although, I am curious if they're going to replace it with something in the rotation, given that the 5 skill chain + 5 skill chain happens to line up perfectly with Chaos Thrust reapplication at base SkS...

It was part of the fun if you happened to play:

    Warrior
    Paladin
    Scholar
    Astrologian
    Bard
    Dragoon
    Ninja
    Summoner

If you played anything else then lul

    That's a major let down.
Not really, after the first couple jobs it's just a pointless chore. I've skipped more expansion job quests than I've seen, as they've been seriously struggling to come up with anything interesting for them.

This way, the role quests become part of the MSQ, which makes them more meaningful, interesting, and ensures that everyone has done their "job" quest and doesn't sit at level 80 without their level 80 skill.

There are a constant supply of sprouts and you encounter them in almost every roulette by design.

There are also the cases of people using alt jobs which they are worse-prepared for.
Perhaps didn't word it correctly with regards to new players or new people to the instance they are not inherently 'bad players' they can become 'bad players' if they so wish, take this bismark nm despite me and others repeatedly saying get on bismark's back to damage him this new player didn't I as a hlr decided to use rescue to force them on it and i get salt thrown at me for interrupting their cast. I explained myself why i did it because losing 1 cast to actually deal >0 dmg is worthwhile but i get the oh so meme worthy, you can't tell me how to play stupid mentor. This new player is a 'bad player' in my eyes because of their attitude to not want to better themselves and i'm sorry to anyone who has to deal with them from Gubal onwards.

To add further if you have a single job to lv70(this will change to lv80 in ShB) this is what i expect you to know
-Orange/red circles on ground are get out unless arrows pointing towards it
-Know that gear does matter for stats so don't go into things undergeared
-understand that every job has a basic rotation that you will need to learn, this one you don't have to get straight away but you have to be willing to improve it

Unless you repeatedly break those you are not a 'bad player' just goofed up lol :P I will always give leeway to new players but i do draw the line for myself when being new is not an acceptable enough excuse

To be fair, almost every change they've made in this expansion has been pandering to bad players. DPS can't be bothered to press their diversion button? Just make it so tanks no longer have any reason to leave tank stance! DPS don't know how to play their classes? Just give them more tools to cover up for their mistakes.
