or a "war-cry" ability, animation similar to unchained or inner release, where the warrior stomps on the ground or something like that, then the ally you chose gets some kind of visual effect (not a shield) and maybe red eyes for a few seconds, signifying the buff effect. tool tip could be something like : " a war-cry puting his allies in a state of frenzy,making their blood boil and numbing their pain perception" effect: -20% dmg taken for the duration or +x% dmg increase. (just an example)

This actually sounds really cool.

Maybe this new ally "shielding" ability is actually cover ? They may have decided to switch it from PLD to WAR since it fits the theme of WAR better, while PLD still has intervention ? We'll have to wait and see.
