Hairstyle Concerns for The New Races

With the HW benchmark you could only use the race hairstyles so at least for the Viera they should be able to get the rest. Hrothgar are a problem imo because they have no customization button about hairstyles itself thus I doubt that they will get one. Instead you can color your fur..so sadly I fear that people might not get more hair for them.

Edit: Seemingly you could choose more hair in the HW one too...which hopefully really just means that they gave us a limited benchmark and at least we get the hairs later for the Viera. Hrothgar still has the problem with having no button anyway. If that is the case I am not sure why they did not tell us that.

Honestly guessing that they will be working on the new races all the way until launch, they already had to delay the benchmark so chances are that they still just aren't finished and released what they /did/ have done for people to play around with.

I shouldn't be surprised by there being multiple threads already with people panicking/raging/disappointed I suppose.. but... *sighs*

I don't think the new races will not have the existing hairstyles imported to them. I think they didn't include in the benchmark was probably because it's not ready yet.

I have discussed with some of my JP friends and we come to this conclusion because some of mogstation items provides hairstyles as well so if players who have bought this previously but decide to change to the new races and suddenly not be available to them does not make much logical/business sense.

I am very concerned about this, since 9 hairstyles are very few, although there is a "good" personalization in viera faces, the hairstyle is what does most of the work in making us look different and most noticeable, so I hope have all the hairstyles that were already available in the other races.

And ... unfortunately hrothgar is another issue, they do not even have a point of their own to choose hairstyle, I like the customizable details they have, but they will all look very similar because they have only 8 hairstyles and attached to the faces

What we see is what we get in the benchmark. They aren't withholding customization options from us. That has never been the case in previous benchmarks and they would have noted something in the lodestone post about it otherwise.

This is really odd. You would think if hairstyles would be an issue with these races, they would have mentioned it back at the JP fan fest when the mentioned the glasses and head pieces.

My guess is lack of time on both fronts. We already know that Hrothgar were under a time crunch even as far back as their reveal, only being media ready the day before the show at the Japanese Fanfest - and that the dev's previously thought they wouldn't be able to attach headgear to either race. It was explained to be a technical difficulty but honestly speaking I imagine it was likely a time based one given the fact that developers were able to crunch on their own time to get a good swath of headpieces to work out of the gate.

I think the real test for me will be whether or not the buyable hairstyles are available once the expac drops. Stuff like the Lightning hair didn't show up in the Benchmark regardless of race, so it's hard to say if Viera or Hrothgar are 100% limited or if they'll have at least some extra options come patch day. Either way while I love SE a lot for trying to give us two races, I very much think they bit off WAY too much.

Maybe its the same situation like with au ru and their horns

I'm like, 90% sure that we'll get more options at launch and that the anti-hrothgar squad are just using this an excuse to say something along the lines of "I can't believe we lost Male Viera for this!". I can't speak for everyone, but I personally liked the Hrothgar stuff even if the hair options they gave us were a bit limiting.

So I guess in short, huzzah for optimism!

The only thing that makes me think the benchmark is just "the best of what they have at the moment" is how the Viera hairstyles are displayed. They were supposed to have a toggle to hide/show bangs, but currently each option is just shown as a separate style. The right-click/toggle doesn't seem to really do anything at the moment.

Also, I really hope that the Viera /laugh emote is just using a placeholder for the time being. They don't currently open their mouths when they laugh D:
