Did leveling roulette with my fiancee recently, we got Ifrit normal. The tank was a new player so we were in the circle for a while. Other DPS tells Selli that her glamour is "okay, but could be better" and suggested a different glamour for her. Selli has had basically the same healer glamour since HW so she just replied with, "I've been using this set for a few years, I still really like it. Thanks anyway." They didn't reply, we killed Ifrit, Selli and I said our goodbyes and as we were about to leave the DPS says, "You're a c**t."

I actually forgot about this incident, but today before the Live Letter, Selli did Normal Raid roulette and something similar happened. I wasn't present for this one, but someone in that party also suggested she change her healer glamour. She said they didn't say anything else other than that statement. Still weird.

Is...glamour shaming a thing now?

i dont see whats wrong with that glamour. i've seen that kind of people too, my friend who change class happen to have no armor on it so her char was half naked (pants but no body armor) while seaching for any useable equipment at market, he said someone whisp him to stop lewding the character and another short whisp "go play hentai if you want naked" lol people just has nothing to do i guess.

my armor is the same as your girl too =D but mine is red and the short is is even shorter =P

So I've been really getting into bard. I love its aoe capabilities and I honestly think its the funnest class to play. HOWEVER! I am so, so, so sick of every drg I run into not knowing what the chaos thrust combo is. I feel as if I am being banned from having better damage by every drg in in the df. I mention it and there hasn't been a single drg that answers. Just radio silence while I sit their crying, wanting the piercing debuff but never receiving it. Also the day I receive dragon sight, I may have a stroke from shock. I mean I'm standing right here next to you in range. Okay give that tether to the never leaving shield oath pld, I'll just mope right here while I out dps you by a metric ton.

A lot of people really, really underestimate Bard damage output. And I can't really blame them, playing suboptimal basically means your damage is going to be lower than most of the other DPS playing suboptimally too, due to the nature of our proc/song rotation system. It's probably the biggest reason why Bard is being slightly reworked in the expansion again (that and the reliance on crit procs basically enforced a meta around Bard's existence in high level raid comps + made Bard more reliant on gear at a level higher than any other class in the game - moving to a fixed proc percentage is absolutely the right choice balance and design-wise in the long term, though it might be less fun at a high skill level depending on what said percentage is).

Anyway, what I mean to say is that you should get used to Astrologians throwing cards on literally everyone but the Bard, even if it turns out the Bard is literally contributing half of the party's DPS.

Daily levelling roulette with a friend, I went healer to help give their dps a faster queue and we get Toto-Rak. Tank has to be convinced that it's their job to do the pulling, only a handful of hits from the first two mobs puts them below 50% and they are literally running circles around the mob. I gear inspect, initially I think oh I guess these mobs hit harder than I remember then I really take a look at the gear, all of it was DoM except the chest which was the Halitali DoW top (no not the DRG one, the other one), and a wonderful lvl1 caster shield. I ask if they have a better shield and get told "all shields are the same" and then "running around the mobs stops them from hitting me". It was a long dungeon, and frankly I really felt sorry for the random MNK that was the 2nd dps. He tried to do his positionals even with the tank running in circles swinging the mobs around.

I looked the tank up on lodestone afterwards only to find to my astonishment they had both a DRK and WAR at 70, as well as all the melee dps jobs.

I've seen that so many times! They are probably thinking that exact statement. I put the tether on them and they run away from me as far as they can. Like I've infected them with something!

actual conversation I had:

"Please stop running away when I give you Dragonsight, it's a buff not a mechanic."
"The red thing? it looks so bad!"
"I promise it won't hurt you"
"if I die I'm blaming you"

I've gotten the dreaded "don't tell me how to play" when trying to explain Dragon Sight to a black mage. The warrior was more appreciative.

I've had many dps break my tethers thinking its bad. I've saltily relayed that its a dps buff so many times I've lost count. However, I do remember one time that a dps was so scared of my tether they kept running around the arena trying to avoid me as if I was a mechanic. Extremely annoyed I decided to stop dps'ing the boss and ran after them while typing as best as I could with one hand, "Don't you run away from me!" This was of course back at the start of sb when I had like one macro on my hotbar and once I made the decision on who was getting my tether that was it for the fight. Didn't matter if I had to chase you to the ends of the earth.

Just seems like they're not really learning a lot of the time and I feel like an alien sometimes when I'm the only one doing mechanics.

And I don't mean little stuff that can be ignored to speed up the run. I mean stuff like people not freezing the spriggans in the second boss of Snowcloak even though it's no ones first run, and the fight taking 20 mins.

I get why this bugs experienced players. But there's a lot of content and good reasons to take regular breaks from the game. So even players who aren't new and who aren't lazy/selfish forget things. I often see people (not necessarily the one I'm replying to here) assuming if you have any jobs to max level and no returner crown you should know all instances by heart, but honestly it often doesn't work that way. In fact, I sometimes delay returning to the game so I hit the calendar mark for the returner's crown so people will excuse the fact that I can't recall all of the mechanics in older content.

Kind of the same for jobs, too I had fun taking the ARR & HW jobs to 50 this one month or so long ago, but, I have no recollection now of how to play them now. It's also a good reason to stick to WHM (which I enjoy), as most mechanic markers are kind of obvious and I can power-heal my way through any lapses or blunders for a good run. Tanking would be a no go as I would be perpetually lost and confused

Yet to go back to where I started, I do get why it bugs people when non-noobs don't seem to know mechanics peculiar to certain instances. When I was leveling the damage dealer jobs and did the 15-49 dungeons over and over and over, even I was thinking "I hope people remember how this boss works". And I appreciate the people who queue for DF roulettes who are patient and helpful even when they are in a hurry. Nearly every time my runs are smooth and even when I forgo the returner crown most people don't realize I've been away and forgotten so much. Or they are cool about it when I type, "Oh, been a while since this place for me, is this the one where [fill in the blank]?"

To be fair, red/orange is the worst color they could've picked for a tether skill. Change it to blue or white and people's instinct of running away won't be triggered as easily.

ignore them, when shadowbringer come out, we ALL are going to learn how to play our class again =D

EDIT: I wasn't streaming today tho I wish I were; I had to solo-heal the last 30% of Ravana (while playing SCH; it's been months since I had) because the other healer got knocked off the platform.
