Yes. This is very nice. It was one of the many hassles of repairing gear.
I certainly will enjoy the convenience this provides both as a repairer and repairee. But the realism it destroys is a small concern to me. Unfortunately like a lot of players I'll take easy over realism any day of the week.(Well.. as far as FFXIV is concerned anyhow)
Some aspects of realism contribute to thequality of the game. Others are just a pain in the rear. Whereas I think the fact of repairs falls in the former category, the procedure for carrying out those repairs has always been on the latter.immersive
i personaly like that this can be done
i just hope they dont extend it over to melding U/U gear later(i think it should be kept as a BONUS to those who leveled crafts as well as combat if its done)

How about they extend it to normal melds first before thinking about U/U?
melding doesnt need it at all really(you can function in the game without melded gear, you cant with broken gear)
the biggest part of this isnt that you are wearing the gear
its the fact that its now a reward+repair material system!

I disagree, the game is balanced under the assumption you have 1 materia in each piece of gear. But we have to give our gear to another player if we do not have the craft levelled up. Pretty risky if you dont know them :O
Not to mention that I have enough trouble opening the door when I carry groceries in from my car. I can't even imagine trying to hold on to 3 to 4 different sets of armor and about a dozen tools and weapons (to say nothing of all the items) while maintaining my mobility and remaining an efficient fighting/gathering/crafting machine.
Realism has left the building at this point and died an ignoble death behind the shed around back.
