On a side note I feel the same lackluster feel that you feel about the lightsaber with my CCNJ weapon the almost EVERY other CNJ is running around with. If there is one thing I havd said since FF 14 launch is there is very little diversity in gear. Look around most everyone is running the same gear..
But for a Jedi, the light saber should be the postlude to a sense of quest and real achievement, don't you think...? However, I am sure both games will get better with time. I played WoW and FFXI simultaneously for years, I guess I can do the same with these two if they both get to a better place.

I agree with the gear issue, but I feel the same in both games. One thing I have to disparage SW,tOR for is the ugliness of its models, and the really poor animation in the CSs... The lighting seems flat, the CS NPCs are awfully drawn, and the environment models look like puppets and move like characters out of Futurama. Having said that, the combat effects are very good, and exciting to boot. However, combat itself seems too fast for my taste, but it will get better, I'm sure, as difficulty scales up. Or so I hope. So far, combat reminds more of a FPS than an MMO. Lots of button mashing for my Jedi.

But we have to give it time, like we have done with FFXIV. MMOs, like good cheese and wine () need time to mature. However, for my money, I see more allure, magic and intrigue in the story and the world of Eorzea than that in the Galaxy Far, Far Away... And right now, combat in Hydaelyn is starting to gain in solidity, structure, and pace. Can't wait for V. 2.O to be here.
