That line right there is why it's misleading. Without actually reading the monster of a first post it's not clear that you mean the artwork.
I'm not sure why you're focused on such a narrow scope. The "official artwork" rarely even gets seen.
Overall, I feel like there's been a good gender balance in the recent official images. The dancer reveal PPT, while focused on the female character, also shows the male relic gear on an Au Ra. And the screenshots from recent live letter, with our first image of a Hrothgar out of their starter gear being a male scholar, and second image of Viera (after dancer) being a female paladin.
I think you could put something like that together, even if it's not directly available (use the Spring Shirt if nothing else) but it does look like something they could use for 'starter gear'. It's too simple for AF gear, I think.i was kind of hoping the dancer af gear would look like this
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/...20110706085756
but who knows, that might be normal dnc gear
It's only because the official artwork represents the new Warrior of Light, subsequent art or cg renders are just other characters, I guess... You'll notice that in any officially artwork about the jobs, like the anniversary artwork, or those banners that hung at fanfest were of those specific characters.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.
Well I'll start with the Warrior of Darkness/Light. Those are characters from the original FFXIV 1.0 trailer. But lets focus on Shadowbringers since it is most relevant. The trailer Viera Dancer introduction us to a new job and new race, though the question can be asked why not show a Hrothgar Dancer but I would suspect they wanted that to be a surprise after the trailer. Next we see a Gunbreaker Thancred which I suspect will be story related. Then we have Urianger as an AST which is story related. Now Hrothgar Gunbreaker would have been fitting but due to how the information was released, those two announcement were separated between fan fest.
I never even noticed what gender anything was that was represented in anything. Just the class. I guess I am doing something wrong. Like it wasn't something I ever thought about specifically.
I main heal and allways loved the scholar gear. I love the badges, the militaristic cut, the mortabard. It really feels like a tactitian, a battle medic that supports his troops.
Despite the fairy its the only healer that feels manly to me (or gender neutral) WHM pretty hovery magical girl poses and AST overly dramatic astrolabe swishes kinda make me feel awkward on my Roegadyn. Specially with the job sets for the later. Man it looked so out of place to see this big buff dude wearing those old lady gipsy style diviner robes.
the only healer that looks Good on Guys are scholar (the class itself and gear don't look feminine at all) and maybe if we stretch it then Ast it's feminie but less compared to whm, as for rdm that's is male job, blue and redm mage are male in most FF games while white mage and black mage usually female
hmm never mind i am mistaken i totally forgotten bout the fairy lol, scholar may be a male ish type of class but still the fairy makes it look feminine, Guess Ast is the least feminine? cause the card stuff yu gi ih and Ace from FF type 0 etc
(ugh last time i post aboutbthis time topic) either way i think sch is suited for male healers while whm for female as for Ast both genders, but if you wanna play as the opposite class np geneder doesn't matter play whm we had male whm in final fantasy before from ff2
I'm all in favor of this tbh.
As a Male Lala tank/dps main I find huge joy in seeing the opposite of what most would expect, I love seeing female characters tank. You give me something like a Female Highlander or a Moonkeeper tanking Shinryu and I'm all over that.
Same for Male healers. One of my favorite aesthetics is a Male Roe SCH/AST wearing glasses and having a more fatherly style look. There's something about that I love, like it's breaking down your expectations at first glance and giving you a whole new side to look at. Maybe it's because I relate it so much to Hohenheim from FMA and it just looks really classy.
My hope is that with the next expac we see something like a Male Roe/Hrothgar being the poster race for the next healer. As much as I'd love to see a Male Lala doing it I think the problem is it doesn't really convey the general look of the job as well as WHM/BLM's that Lala's are mostly tied to. Bigger characters mean more detail in the design I figure.
