What I've heard is male roes who want to go hrotgar are doing so because hrothgar is basically all in one extra CC features for male roes.

EDIT: just to add some things here: Since SE can't even provide extra basic CC male roe features like BODY HAIR, and/or CHEST HAIR, seems like Hrothgar makes an excellent alternative plus it has the bonus of looking ferocious. Anything else, like the Bara thing seems personal fluff that coincides with these aesthetics.

As someone who swaps between male and female Roe, I'm excited to see what kind of options we get with Hrothgar. I'm one of those folks who would have been all over a beast race when I first started if it had been an option just because outside of the Roegadyn, all the ladies are kinda...samey visually. Elezen ladies are a bit more elegant in their motions, but overall the animations and voices for the female toons are less "bad ass warrior woman" and more "cute anime lady" so having the fem Roe option who have more assertive and powerful stances and emotes has been great. Would have loved to see female Hrothgar, but I'm still excited to see the big cat lads when they become available.

I've been seeing some comments of people curious as to why so many Male Roegadyn are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Hrothgar. So I figured I'd shed some light on the matter and provide education to the uninitiated.

Simply put, it's an all Male race of sexy burly lion dudes. It's the dream fantasy not seen since Final Fantasy XI's all Male Galka race. Not to mention it's at long last a furry bestail race with actual beast like features instead of just an elf with cat tails and ears.

Obviously it's not every individual but 90% of Male Roegadyn players are in the Bara scene, and to summarize what Bara is, it's a genre which consists of gay monster/human/furry muscular husky gigaton beast dudes. And if your familiar with the genre, it's easy to understand why fans of the genre gravitate so much towards Roegadyn males and the Hrothgar.

In the gaming industry, it's difficult to find bara content, Final Fantasy XIV being the only game at least in the MMO scene that offers healthy and diverse options for Bara Rp and fantasy. It's a genre that is completely overshadowed by heteronormative ideologies and yaoi content, as people believe men shouldn't be muscular or chubby, rather they must be feminine with fem like features...and straight.

Hrothgar to us in the genre is a breath of fresh air. It gets tiring and exhausting being around cat girls and lady elves all day. You go into any server, you see cats girls and lady humans. You may see 1 or 2 Male Roe, if you see more than that take pictures as it's an anomaly that will never happen again. Hopefully with the arrival of this race we will see a nice boom in beastmen roaming the lands of Eorzea.

So hopefully this has given you some insight as to why the Male Roes are so hyped for Hrothgar and perhaps educated yourself on the Bara genre.

I thought it was pretty obvious why those playing Roe wanted this race. Fits the Bara and the furry checkmarks; not an insult but I know for a fact a good chunk of those who were playing Roe - that I know of, as in my friends - we're either into Bara, furries or both. I'm sure there's plenty of others who are into them not because they're gay or a furry - just like to be monstrous. To each their own, let them have fun. Until I start crying because there are naked Hrothgar everywhere.

Ok so definitely not my cup of tea being the straight male that I am BUT the more I read the more I felt a sense of "I'm happy for them" in this case as opposed to my deep seeded spite for the people whining about the "frail" bunny bois they're so thirsty for. So hell yeah bring on the beast men.

I appreciate the bara angle, though probably from the opposite end, if that makes sense, but I still find in unfair that it's a male only race. I mean, if guys wanna be big hulking testosterone filled anthropomorphic cats attracted to other big hulking testosterone filled anthropomorphic cats, who says girls dont want the same thing. I mean I don't know the name but their is a genre for buff women on buff women.

The term is actually believe it or not called "Fara". Big burly thick beast women on women.
