Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

No, Viera was added because people have been asking for it since way before Ivalice, just going to point that out.



While the game may be old, the concept is the same. Race that only had females represented, people wanted males as well, was never given an definitive answer and was eventually added as an NPC. So by that logic, we won’t see Male Viera until the next FF MMO.

You also must not have read my post, because I clearly said I was around when the game first came out and Miqote was female only, and that it took the game dyeing and being reborn before we got males.

All I am saying, given SE record with this same very thing in yet a different Final Fantasy MMO, we should expect pretty much the same, hell, the live letter low key says this.

Ok so then we can expect to grind for 90 hours to get a piece of gear we will swap every time we need to use a skill? Oh and btw interestingly enough there seems to be a new FF mmo coming? I guess it makes sense since a game that's ridiculously old did that and there is NO way this game doesn't do the exact same thing

All the stuff you mentioned have absolutely nothing to do with what we are talking about, if you wish to sit disillusioned that SE couldn’t possibly do the same very thing they did before when it came to a similar situation as this, then by all means, continue to sit disillusioned.

All I am saying is that given what happened before and how things are currently being handled, this added with the live letter we have been give, leads to a huge possibility that the same thing can happen again.

I have some concerns in regards to the future of the game, though Viera being gender locked is actually pretty far down the list. I'm much more worried about the stagnating PvP and the lack of player housing.

Your argument defeats itself with the Live Letter reason for Hrothgar, though, since Yoshi-P even stated they don't know how much they will be played but they wanted to make them because the player demand was there.

That's literally what I said. It's not for the profits, it's for expanding player's choices. Every Potato can potion into some new race like Moogles and it still won't pay off from a money stand point if the team can't already handle the added stain and expenses.

A lesser player demand than the one we have now (in amount of people making noise for the missing genders). But that's one of those pesky things called facts that don't fit your narrative (seeing the Forum reaction, they may displace a lot of Roes and a small percentage of the other races, but there's no crystal ball to say how many will stay Hroth, add it to their regular Fantasia rotation, or try and drop. There's no crystal ball to say how many will change and stay Viera, for that matter).

Not to mention it doesn't have to be "Fantasia addicts," I myself expressed that the plan was to switch between male and female Viera every other month, and at least another poster expressed the same. How many non-binary players (or simply players that enjoy a change of look every once in a while) but don't post in the forums do you think there are? Or the average player that messes around in the benchmark and thinks "Oh, this race/gender looks cool...but I don't wanna make an alt...I could change to this" Reducing it to the hyperbolic "no one will play this/oh, just Fantasia addicts" is missing a whole bunch of middle ground.

I can't possibly know how many people buy potions ... but I'm sure SE knows.

And guess what? SE released a race already before so they should know what to generally expect from potion sells as well as how often people generally buy them.

What are they doing now? Saying that this is the last new race addition we're getting cause it's all their can handle. Also that no, they can't just throw more money at this. That it makes everything that much harder to make and would slow down the pace of content.

They would be the only people to possibly know if how much they could profit from a new race and they are telling you no, it's not worth the strain and sacrifices.

But here you all are, making it seem like they could profit on working for 2 years to make something that makes everything else in the game harder and more expensive to make and would slow down the content that drives people to play this sub based p2p game.

To make it clear I'm not telling anyone they can't hope for or shouldn't want Viera males and Hrothgar Females. Hell, I'd prob play as a Hrothgar female if they looked good seeing as a lil part of me is panicking because I'm gonna dive into Hrothgar with most all my current glam being for a female (... and I gotta name change!)

But trying to use the excuse of "Think of the PROFITS!" for why they should be added is just terrible and flat out silly. Part of their JOB is to think of the profits and they're telling you they can't do it. People get confused by WoW, they forget that that game can run on a toaster and Blizzard is OK with it looking garbo. Of the 3 biggest MMOs there's WoW, FF and GW2. GW2 will NEVER add a new race and FF is apparently now at it's limit.

So you admit to not having been a part of it. Then might I suggest you stop riding on the WoD train? Given what we know so far about ShB, it's nothing close to being what WoD was. If you choose not to like a game because you can't have your way with male Viera that's fine. But WoD's major problem was that it lacked any content. FFXIV has, so far, always been feeding the player base various forms of game content.

Yep, I don't think ShB will be anywhere near WoD or BfA levels of terrible.

Even Allied Races are also a joke, because they artificially lengthen your time played by making all ARs only obtainable through grinds. And adding abilities to the GCD, and only removing most of the abilities from the GCD again, because it turned out to be a mistake (that they don't admit) and still claim that the move was a success. Just Acti-"You think you do, but you don't"-Blizzard in action.

I can't even remember the last PTR where they had addressed long-time concerns right away, and instead ignored them until they became a glaring gameplay issue on live.

All in all, M Viera/F Hrothgar alone won't doom ShB into becoming as bad as WoD/BfA.

The only thing that would really doom SH is if it has no content whatsoever (even stale content is better than no content). From what we've seen so far, that is quite clearly not the case.
