Should one tank in tank stance?

If your tank is getting to 5% from pulling the boss something is REALLY REALLY WRONG. Dungeon bosses flatly dont hit that hard. The only way this happens is your tank is woefully,absurdly, comically undergeared for the leveling dungeon. The guy using a lv 14 weapon, a lv 20 int ring and some 'disciple of war' lv 17 armor in a lv 30 dungeon kind of bad. Tank busters dont bring a tank to 5% with zero CDs used in dungeons let alone the 1st auto attack.

These 1 hit 5% tank stories are pure hyperbole. A once in a lifetime experience. Hardly an argument to support the claim.

I propose this challenge to all of you. Coming to Duty Finder as a Healer heal some of these bad tanks that drop their stance and do not have the gear supported to do so. After you have successfully done that I will gladly value your opinions or perhaps listen to you tell me that I shouldn't have the opinion I have but until that time keep rocking your tanks you're probably one of the bad ones.

I've healed plenty of DF stuff as all 3 tanks and the vast majority of the time I get to heal the tank with just off-GCDs while spamming aoe. Maybe your data center is different, but tanks as squishy as the ones you describe just don't show up often here, especially not ones that drop tank stance.

If you were following the entire conversation we were talking about a number of tanks that do it while leveling. I dont usually see bad tanks at level 70 you rarely see a bad tank and in the elite dungeons very few of them. While leveling from 60 to 70, at overnight hours. I have seen a plethora of bad tanks.

Who's to say it's unwanted? His personal experience is every bit as valid as your own.

Look, I'll try to meet you halfway here. I've met bad tanks before, there was this one insanely undergeared tank in a Sirensong Sea that comes to mind. I was constantly in danger of ripping hate off of him, despite using Diversion on CD. During the final boss, even with Shield Oath on, the tank buster still brained him down to about 25% HP. He lost hate a lot, died a few times on the more sketchy pulls. Guy even tried that one pull after the 2nd boss where you gather all the mummies, despite the fact that the dungeon had been shaky up until that point.

But these are not problems with the job itself. These are execution based issues with bad tank players. These tanks were going to be bad no matter what tools you gave them, or how streamlined their kits are. It seems to me like your comments are just throwing the baby out with the bathwater here. The rest of us just want a more straightforward experience, with a skill curve that makes sense.

Been there done that. I have every job at max level which obviously includes all 3 healers, I've healed countless under geared tanks in dps stance in AV, Bardam's and Castrum. Everyone is grouped with players who are not only under geared but also aren't the greatest players, you've had the same kind of experiences everyone eventually runs into, this isn't specific to just you. No one is telling you what to do or what to think, but to just have a open mind when it comes to how tanks play. My advice is to not take it personally and just be willing to accept criticism. That's all really.

I would consider a much more common "bad experience" to be tanks sitting in tank stance for an entire instance and hardly doing any damage. I'd much rather toss an extra Benefic II out than see another WAR use Inner Release in Defiance.
