In the Hevensward Alchemist quests, the Alchemist guild-master invents a potion that reveals the aura of a hand-crafted object. The aura is the same color as the aetherial aura of whoever made the object. The guild-master uses it on something the WoL makes and it turns out that the WoL's aura is blue in that quest. This is in contrast to the guild-master's aura which is purple.

So the WoL's aura has probably been associated with blue in the lore team's mind even before Stormblood made it more obvious.

Water sounds like a good element to associate with the WoL. To our allies we can be a calm stream that welcomes them, to our enemies a raging wave that threatens to engulf them.

"Warrior of Darkness" is just a phase we all go through in our teenhood.

Im just gonna assume we will do what the WoDs did on Hydaelyn.
We gonna kill primals and baddies which will bring the shadows back on the First.

How is killing Primals and baddies bringing back SHADOW? The entire reason Ascians were summoning primals was to BRING more shadow to the source, more chaos. The entire reason the First is engulfed in light is because the WoL on that shard were TOO successful at getting rid of the shadow.

Don't forget that the WoDs in the 3.x series were still killing primals.. but they were also helping them get summoned.
The Ascians don't want primals that mankind can't handle, the goal is escalating conflict.

With the knowledge we have now, the only thing we'd need to do to bring darkness is to also assist in/provoke primal summoning, before eventually defeating them.

In fairness, with sufficient poetry, this can work out with ANY element, not just water!

The comforting flame, granting warmth and light to our allies; the raging inferno, reducing our enemies to ash.

The gentle zephyr, bringing cool comfort to our allies; the ferocious hurricane, tearing our enemies asunder.

I suppose some elements might be more of stretch...

The soft rumble, heralding the life-giving rain that soothes our allies; the violent cascade, smiting our foes from the heavens.

True enough, though I'm sure there are specific things that could be attributed to each element if we were to look into mythology for it. I just don't remember/feel the need to look it up currently.

Regardless of when the main character became the Warrior of Light ability wise, I remember that the Scions started calling them the Warrior of Light in a cutscene in the Waking Sands between the Castrum Centri escape and Operation Archon (near the end of 2.0). Hope this helps the questions a bit!

Why Water? Don't think too hard about it. We raised Water for the same reason we began our journey receiving the Water Crystal of Light as a gift from Hydaelyn regardless of which city we started in: because it's just that right shade of Final Fantasy blue. You're 100% right. If you go back to the FF1 games, the "Water" crystal is wielded by the party leader (a Fighter/Warrior by default). It's emblematic of the franchise
