Why, despite being new, not knowing mechs and not knowing rotations, they do not ask for help? :V

There is a reason why there is another thread about people thinking mentors are bad you know.

If a sprout asked a bad mentor and had been badly treated you expect him to ask again?

But I guess its better complaining about OP rather than make them feel welcome to ask.

You can also make a macro so you won't have to type it everytime.

That's a double edged sword your putting on your plate.
Look in this section of the forums. Their is a thread of a player who asked another player two questions, and they reported them for harassment, and some people in the thread agree on that.
Why should I reach out to players if I'm going to be the target for trying to help?
Mentors already get a bad rap as is, and I personally don't see any reason to reach out to players who don't want to ask for the help.

So yes, I expect to be asked, because if a player asks I'm not going to be met with "you don't pay my sub," or "stop harassing me."

This works both ways. Dont expect a mentor to stick their necks out trying to help people if they are going to be met with hostility by acting like you just insulted their mother and kicked their dog by offering advice.

People dont take too kindly when otherd try to group all mentors together and make baseless generalizations based upon anecdotal experiences. You having a bad experience with a mentor =//= all mentors being terrible.

That being said, mentors also have no obligation to meet your personal standards of what you think a mentor should be doing or how they should be acting at all times. You dont get to make that decision.

Those of us that are mentors will continue helping those that seek help, but the more we are met with hostility for trying to help the less we are willing to put our best foot forward to approach those that we notice are struggling.

There are plenty of helpful mentors, but the bad ones are louder than the good ones. Be the change you want to see, instead of expecting everyone else to be that change for you.

I’m actually working to get my mentor status right now. I just need to do 97 dungeons and I’ll be able to become a mentor! I’m going to help as many people as I can, and reading these posts, I see it’s best to only help other if they ask. So thanks everyone! I hope I’m a mentor everyone can look up to!

Novice Network is actually pretty great for helping people.
A lot of people will just use it to chat, but ever so often someone asks a question, or asks for a someone for a dungeon.
Did a dungeon with someone yesterday, and they didn't know how to limitbreak etc. People in the NN will ask for help if they need it!

It's like a big friendly chat group that just kinda hangs out, and helps people who ask every so often.

This.. REALLY depends on which server you're on. In some places it's basically Barrens chat and people who ask questions just get mocked.
