Mentors are guilty until proven innocent no matter how outlandish the accusations are so I guess I'll go to my room now and ground myself for 3 weeks.

To be honest, all of these threads (along with past experience) makes me want to be a mentor even less than I do already. I got my mentor status and wanted to help people, but people don't take me seriously with the crown...so I took it off and never put it back on. I'll just be an average joe trying to help the average player when I feel like it or if I feel it is necessary.

I'd say keep helping people with or without the crown. It probably does less for your credibility than just being even tempered and helpful.

Yeah, that's the problem though. The crown should say to people "Hey, this person probably knows a thing or 2. Maybe they could give some good advice!"

But it does not in my experience, even with a positive attitude. For a lot people the Mentor crown is tainted. I have better experiences trying to help people without that attached to my name.

True, I got insulted right away on mentor roulette when I gave advices. While on my alt I could help a person while my alt is a sprout ... (this last has been one of the best run I did lately, really a nice rookie)

I wish we could also hide the icon when doing mentor roulette.
