I've been considering making a thread on this, but I'm sure it exists somewhere.

What does the game actually teach you?

People can be reported for obstruction of play on something they're genuinely ignorant about. And in the case of MSQ, really- what does the game truly tell you about your job? Hall of Novice is encouraged, but not enforced. Job duties have actions behind them, but as useful as they are, can be ignored. The game guides you along with shiny buttons to press one after the other, but it is not a (single) combo button. Why go through 2 skills when the third has the most potency? The game holds your hand but ultimately pushes you off a cliff.

So explain how some players actually figured it out? Maybe we... oh god... did we read our tooltips?

You seriously sound like you never realized that tooltips exist. Either that or you never learned to read. One of the two. And you're replying to posts so I think it's relatively safe to assume reading is a skill to have.

I know what tool tips are, you're coming off as smarmy. I am speaking with the lv60 CNJ in mind. The people who use Cure III because they do read tool tips. "Potency on this spell is more so I should use it" mentality.

I am not speaking for myself with those questions. Maybe it wasn't clear to you, and I'm sorry. They are questions posed with the player who doesn't know any better in mind.

Hmm, a skill costs more MP to use, and restores more health. The other one restores slightly less but is also cheaper to use.

Oh boy I wonder which one is the emergency heal for when people are on seriously low health and which one I should use when people aren't in danger. Such a mystery will never be solved.

This is off topic, but why all the vitriol in your posts?

On topic, Cure3 is also a ranged heal versus the pbaoe style of medica. So it is not as cut and dry if said player is used to a ranged healer style of other games. They will eventually figure it out in my experience. Although this also showcases some of the problems with whm design.

Cure 3 - Restores HP of target and all party members nearby target.

Medica - Restores own HP and the HP of all nearby party members.

What? I mean sure Medica isn't all that clear but Cure 3 is crystal clear... So many things I'd like to say but I just can't, this is both silly and infuriating...

Or maybe I was talking about when to use the spell as that is what I quoted. Not the tooltip description. As the poster I quoted was stating the use of the spells as emergency vs not. Quite frankly the tooltip doesn’t spell that out if you want to focus on the tooltip. A little reading comprehension goes a long way especially if you are going to be rude.
