I have a sneaking suspicion that if we ever go to the moon, it'll probably be via that ship. The fact that it looks otherworldly and hasn't been used yet is kind of a flag of future use...assuming SE takes and USES that flag.

Aesthetically, The Peaks received a lot of love. It's my favorite SB zone to be in for the visuals and the music. When hunts and gathering/fishing have me go there I am one happy camper.

It's in sightseeing log and was explained a little further by dev Koji. A sharlayan guy used teleportion magicks on that vessel to save people from the flood calamity of 6th umbral, but his math was a bit off and it ended up sending them to the Peaks rather than his intended destination![]()
I'm honestly surprised we did literally nothing with that boat. It was mentioned once and never acknowledged again in any way, shape or form. (maybe a sightseeing spot? don't remember)

My hope is that the boat ends up being a dungeon in 5.x.
The peaks were probably going to be home to the quiqirn beast tribe quests sadly namazu became popular so quiqirn were left alone. The boat may have a dungeon tied to it in the future but it would probably have something to do with ast/rdm/whm/blm or the calamity of water

Or Sharlayan, since it is more tied to Sharlayan history then any of the branches of magic, except maybe AST.The peaks were probably going to be home to the quiqirn beast tribe quests sadly namazu became popular so quiqirn were left alone. The ship *has* to be some kind of future dungeon/trial/plot point. It's too big and out-of-place (very unusual design) to just be there for a minor detail not even covered in the game itself.
The temple of Schism is another spot that seems like a plot point in waiting. Rather ominous, and yet the only thing it got used for was a brief stop on the wild dodo chase that was the Stormblood DRG questline (with random cameo by Erik from the MNK quests).
That boat is, for all intents and purposes, FF14's version of Noah's Ark.
Even including it's location: the Ark is said to lie on a mountain in Turkey, exactly where Ala Mhigo sits on the similar world map.
