Right because D ring was an 0.5% drop rate retard.i would understand your beef with the analogy if the actual drop rates were anywhere remotely close to 1%. but they're not.
and as far as people winning and not getting anything... so?
i logged 78 King Behemoth kills in my FFXI career. you can't farm KB every 30mins. it doesn't even pop every day. 1-1.5 times a week on average. in that time i only saw two Defending Rings drop. i didn't win the roll on either of them.
that's not to say this loot system should be like that. but it is to say: quit your bitching. you don't know pain. (and, as OP said: for those who DO get the defending ring, the elation is UNMATCHED)
Also OP you sound fkin crazy cause there was plenty of content in XI that could spammed every 15 min just like XIV right and that was called Sky/sea and they could drop multiple things @ once. Almost all content in XI when you did something you was gonna get some type of drop from said monster unless it was an world NM. Like i said in another thread I've killed ifrit more times than i killed Kirin in my 8 years of XI play and i only have 1 weapon to show for it lol.....
Also XI didn't have a shity loot system that also made the fight's take less kills...

I would've killed Ifrit more times than Kirin...but then I took an arrow in the knee. (sorry it should've been expected by now)
again, you flail and flail and miss the point. so when you've farmed ifrit for 4 years, then you can relate it to my 78 KB kills and QQ thusly. (and believe me, i did plenty of QQing about that ring when it was relevant)
i'm not defending a 'broken loot system'- i haven't made any claims to it being perfect to any degree.
i am, however, pointing out that players in this game seem to have this overpowering expectation of instant-gratification borne of a self-aggrandizing sense of entitlement, and while loot may not be perfect in this game... this isn't burger king. you have the right to express your displeasure with various aspects of the game (though it would be nice if you lot could do so more constructively), but your displeasure is often founded in utter selfishness with a gross oversight towards the good of the ultimate end ffxiv game design takes.
also, if you have 80 or more ifrit kills and only one weapon to show for it, you're either exaggerating (probable) or just have really really awful luck (possible). and, unfortunately, your subjective personal experience does not overwrite the experiences of the gross average of every other player in the game with a similar number of kills (or less).
tl;dr that sucks bro but your experience is not indicative of a majority by any means. tailor your input accordingly, por favor.
"I've eaten crap before, so why are you complaining about the giant turd on your sandwich? Get over it!"i would understand your beef with the analogy if the actual drop rates were anywhere remotely close to 1%. but they're not.

or, you know, it's more that you're looking at a stale cheeto and saying eating that equates to eating... yeah, well. you get the picture. calling a spade a spade, yeah- it's a stale cheeto. are there better, more nutricious and tasty things out there that we could have? yep. does that make it some ridiculous extreme in awfulness? nope. could the stale cheeto be improved in some way? yep. does that mean it should magically be instantly changed into everything you've ever wanted to eat, without any work? nope. does that mean once you do get something better than a stale cheeto you're probably gonna appreciate it a lot more, especially if you had to work a little for it? yep.
tl;dr- this exaggerating/crying/flailing thing isn't helping. and if you need more evidence of that kind of reaction not helping a thing... allow me to direct you to the official blizzard english forums.
bon appetit.
in fancy-pants college-educated land we call that a straw man fallacy. can you post proof of me referring directly to myself and/or my experiences as being equivocal to a majority? nope, because it never happened.
if your reading comprehension skills and logical deduction skills were a little more keen, you'd understand that my reference to a majority's experience was simply a reference to precisely that. seriously, reread and stop making yourself look ignorant. it's pretty clear i'm saying that *most* people who have 80+ ifrit kills have more than 1 weapon to show for it, which would make his individual experience a what?
oh, right. an outlier.
do you know what that is? what it means?
cool. carry on, then, my logically-impaired forum friend.

But there are not even 50 jobs in the game yet...in fact there are NO jobs in the game yet...thus that is impossible!
Side note: I had some terrible luck in FFXI (0/87 on O.Kote, never got one I just gave up on that damn item) and some really good luck on FFXI 1/1 Peacock Charm (didn't even camp it, was just running through the zone to get to another zone and saw it)
It's the beauty of /random~
