I thought if you pre-ordered Shadowbringers it unlocked all the available content before it when it sends you the pre-order bonus items. Is that wrong?

The other expansions that come with Shadowbringers are unlocked on the release date of the next expansion. Only a few bonus items were unlocked before.

If you only have the base game, and then pre-order Shadowbringers, you definitely will not have access to Stormblood content until ShB content releases for you.

I am unsure about Heavensward, since when I came back after being away for a few years, my account showed HW content as being available to me (open circle) but Stormblood had the "buy" button. Perhaps as expansions are released, content older than the preceding expansion are bundled back into the base game content. I checked through my entire history and could not find where I had purchased HW. Anyway, someone who hasn't bought HW or SB could check it out as well.

That's why I posted this thread, because there may be others like me who don't want to wait 2 months for the features introduced in Stormblood. I appreciate the 50% off discount.
