I'm sure some people would've liked that design. After all, some like Hroths as they are now, and with them being beastly, there's not much keeping them from being bunnies too, now is there?
But you can be sure that a lot less people would've made a stink about it because a lot of people don't care about either race, but the genderlocks bother them. Introducing male Viera in any form would negate that.
    It's just a general question.

What I don't get is what is it about male Viera that people want? The way I see it, the Hrothgar could have been called Viera instead.
But they're just something different, a name, and since we got one of each gender (M/F) I think it's fair right now.
Is it just the symbolism of a name, the title? Or the feeling of something being incomplete or missing?

To begin with, male Viera are a mystery in the FF franchise. So "male Viera" in and of itself is something coveted regardless of what they'll actually look like.
For me, it has a lot to do with the mannerism when I play (I imagine them to be a bit more... focused than Au Ra?) and the lore behind them. The Viera lore interests me and I'd like to see it for both the females and males, which are bound to be noticeably different given the genders live such separate, different lifestyles. A race's lore interests me and affects my writing as I roleplay a lot, and it's something I'd have liked to write around. Sadly, even the developers seem to ignore that aspect of a race's introduction since in all interviews they seem focused on, say, what Hrothgars add to the table looks-wise, when their lore has a lot of issues (the females being so few from a race survival standpoint, why the clans differ in color when it seems like the main difference is whether or not they follow the queen, off the top of my head)
And I do think they'll be even 'prettier' than Au Ra, or at least would have expressions that are not as built-in, well, nasty. I'd also prefer the fuzziness to an Au Ra's scales, to explain why I want them on top of existing races despite them not differing "too much"
