Im not saying you should be rewarded for your time too.. I think SE should add a tick to your roulet count too if you time out in an instance. Because you spent your time and tried to help them.

As said, even as a mentor there are things one can do and may be able to teach - and there may be things one probably can't. I want to help, but I also know I'm lacking. I can teach you an BRD-opener and the proper rotation, but I can't tell you what to do as MCH, because I've never played this job. I can tell you the positionings for SAM, but I can't tell it for MNK (without looking it up). I can propably teach you Seiryu-EX but I'm sorry to say that I can't help you with Geruda-EX (Sync).

I'm not really interested in the mount. I chose to wear the crown because I want to help newcomers like others helped me when I first started the game. And I help where I can, but I may not be able to help you at all. That's why most of the time I'm too afraid to even sign up for the Mentor Roulette, as I fear to get content I may be a burden myself and fail to meet everyones expection they may have in me as their mentor. But that's also the reason why I think that mentors should be allowed to skip out of content they know they can't help, because nobody would get anywhere there anyway. I think the best thing would be a kind of blacklist for EX/Savage-content, allowing mentors to exclude trials they are not comfortable enough to fullfill their role. So nobody would leave when they pop up, because they won't get those content in the first place.

When most situations end up like this post from my mentor roulette, no, you tend to not want to be someone's punching bag. Plus what I said in my post above when it came to giving clear, precise directions that people fail to follow. You can only do so much before you throw in the towel.

Player etiquette does not mean you are obligated to sit in a duty for possibly 120 minutes.

There are good and bad times as a mentor for sure. However, mentors are not required to be abused. Collect your proof that bad behavior happened then Politely bow out. As for the ones that refuse to try the content don’t queue mentor roulette if you don’t want the responsibility and turn your crown off. Go into regular player mode until you are ready to mentor again. You are not being held hostage when YOU HAVE TO OPT to join something with the mentor tag going as well as a rng random content selector called MENTOR ROULETTE. You know ahead of time that this has the possibility to draw certain content.

The person I was responding to was taking it beyond that, that mentors are obligated to stay until vote abandon or timed out. I pointed out the rules for being a mentor don't support that entitlement and the latter has lead to some simply bowing out to avoid issues (and yes, some do it to simply avoid the punishment and queue again faster than 30 minutes).

Nope the 1st bullet point. Pretty sure we're saying that they should be provided the advice to look to party finder for old EX and Savage content, and that they should also probably expect people won't be willing to do it unless it's unsynced.

It's also optional, hard, endgame content. (from its time)
