Are movie spoilers against the ToS?

It's disconcerting that so many in this thread seem to think that intentionally spoiling a highly anticipated movie shouldn't be an actionable offense, not even a day after its out in theatres. It is blatantly obvious that the offenders are trying to grief and upset other players -- but you're OK with that? This is the reason I turn my chat window off completely. This behaviour is beyond inappropriate, and should be punished, harshly.

Then using your logic, if we ever meet, I will file a report against you because of this:

3.2 Disruption. You may not in any way disrupt or interfere with the Game experience of other players, including the disruption of Square Enix's computers and servers.

You turning your chat window off completely prevents me or anyone else from chatting with you which disrupts my game experience therefore you should be harshly punished.

If having a movie spoiled is such a big disaster to you, perhaps you'd be better off cancelling your internet sub, throw out the PC and consoles, t.v., and radio, and perhaps maybe consider becoming Amish.

Well mate you're playing an MMO, a Massively Multiplayer Online game. marvel on social media has also been posting the same things of "Please Don't Post Endgame Spoilers!", and most people generally avoid social media in multiple forms right now (including games) for the thought of someone even attempting to do that.

I think most of us here agree it's rude to do it but the moment you log in to this game or even go on this forum you have only yourself to blame.

Just to clarify it was clearly malicious. Shouting a key plot point multiple times over and over again in shout. Looked into it a bit today and interestingly enough League of Legends adopted an anti spoiler policy since that big Star Wars movie came out (in 2017 I think?) and people were spoiling pivotal plot points. They later adapted the policy to all spoilers of major movie releases. They do a permanent suspension if the spoiler is clearly malicious.

I personally think a permanent suspension is extremely harsh myself but some sort of moderation action is need on spoilers that aren't just accidental friends chatting and overheard etc and that are clearly done in a malicious way. It's akin to harassment.

Either way I've calmed down and am still excited to see the movie. Was just a really shitty thing to have happen. Next major movie / tv release and I'm just going to turn off shouts/yell in chat.

Yeah, dont understand people who take pleasure in ruining an experience for another person. Even for someone who is kinda meh to it, if I see that I just think the person is an ass. You know, a simple solution to this would be to pretty much have the GMs create an option that allows them to mute a person's chat except /say, /p, and /fc for a period of time. Or just straight up mute that player for 24 hours. Sucks if they cant talk but dont be an ass that throws out spoilers just to be malicious in /shout.

some people dont care about big movies. they may have seen it with some friends on a whim and started talking about it in chat. its a movie about super heroes, by definition its not important and does nothing to a person's enjoyment of ths actual game.

its fine to be upset about it i guess, but i cant imagine its an actionable offense.

You have no idea about what people write reports about either, because you aren't a GM and if you were, you wouldn't speak about it. You also don't know what reports get actioned, to define what is or isn't useless.

The ToS dictates what should be reported, not McPerson Playerface who's alright with spoiling people in shouts but is against any other random issue. It's supposed to be fair for everyone, not according to someone's bias.

Ironically "heavily insulting someone" is all about feeling offended. Cheating as well, unless they cheated to steal a roll on loot from you or something like that.

I feel offended by the way you word your opinion. I feel it is needlessly aggressive and rude. Should I report?
