more options never hurt anyone and we can simplify races to something extremely basic all we want but doesn't change the fact they obviously look different and have multiple animations that set them apart

There's been plenty of people in the thread so far insulting Hrothgar for just being "furry Roes" when the only similarity between the two is that they're big and bulky. Big men, are in fact, big and bulky. Wow!
Also some people complaining about female Viera just being Hyurs/Elezen with bunny ears when that's effectively what they've always been?

It's not a complaint. At least when I bring it up it's calling the devs out on their double standards. Hroths were introduced for the sake of diversifying the races, but apparently that only applies to the men because look at what women got. Which makes me (X) Doubt some of their motivations

That's good that you have an actual reason. I've seen a good few just being irritated at the fact that they look similar to those two races without an actual good reason.

honestly if they had added bangaa or something i wouldn't be as disappointed. it'd make perfect sense, right? 2 ivalacian races?

Their reasons are good to them. For example, My opinion on Roes are that they are bloody ugly so I avoid playing them. Not liking how they look is a good reason not to play them. Reasons are subjective. People are different and have different likes and dislikes. One mans garbage is another mans treasure...ect, ect.


Personally, I'll check out hrothgar at launch but I doubt I'll stick with it. I'm not a fan of the hulk body type...lol

It's been said that dudes wouldn't want to play a male viera because it'd be weird to be a rabbit guy/they're erp bait/they'd end up hunted for their limbs so that lalafell can make keychains out of them, but just recently one of my brothers started playing the game--a built guy who works on a farm and usually plays FPS (he used to play FF games prior to XIII, however)--and right out the gate he chose to play a miqo'te guy because "that guy looks cool." That's it. No weird ulterior motive, he just looked at this cat boy and was like "rad." I'd imagine a whole bunch of other people might react similarly to viera men. Ignoring the bunny ears entirely when choosing to play one because "that guy looks cool. He looks like he'd roundhouse kick someone in the face while simultaneously firing an arrow at an enemy, who would then explode while a pan flute backed by metal plays in the background."

Granted he's used to FF protagonists being on the more "softly handsome" side of things and his favorite character of all time is Cloud I mean he wrote fanfiction journal entries about going on adventures with him in the first grade bless him but I really don't think there'd be anything offputting about male viera unless they, you know, looked like kids which I don't think would be a thing since "hmm maybe elezen-like" to paraphrase(savage) is what was said.

(Also--I am a girl who really, really, really wants to play a male viera. Not for any weird reasons, just because I like viera and have had poor experiences playing female avatars. (I also just really like rabbits!))

Thanks, you yourself made sure to point out on how they say that perhaps they do the other gender but they don't know right now.
I believe that is called....suprise surprise... Considering something!

Basically, they might consider working on the opposite genders, but until they know they have the resources to work on them, don't expect anything. You'll only set yourself up for disappointment.

Also still waiting for you to provide me that source where he says something along the lines of promising to never gender lock again.

Reasonable. While I'm not a fan of them personally as long as this is the attitude people take on it I can at least not oppose their implementation.

No kid Viera, that's all I can ask at this point. Anyone who can say they definitively want their male Viera to look like adult men take my begrudging support.

You guys really don't need to worry about that. Yoshi P already described how male viera would look like. Slim, elegant, and handsome. If male viera ever get implemented, they will most likely be how Yoshi P described.
