People just want the most effective out to a run and I can see that from a perspective. If I have an EX farm run go bad due to failed mechs/positioning and a healer has to pop LB, I'd be thankful for them but would also mention this shouldn't have to happen. A farm is meant to get the job done as fast and effective as possible, and people dropping like flies when we have dps checks is no bueno. That being said sometimes people have bad days so as long as it's not a recurring issue I see no harm in it. If it happens again after a callout stating it then it's time to bounce only because it's a farm. If it's a prog I don't care as much until I have the fight down to a science and can push forward without any issues.

A fantastic fight I recommend to anyone who wants to see that mentality in it's purest form is Tsukuyomi HM. Legit everytime I get that fight through either trials rou or mentor it's the biggest hurdle to overcome as many people are going for story progression who don't mainly raid. You see people wipe like crazy due to it being new for them and it can sometime take up to four wipes due to grasping the fight for them to clear. Some people just leave the moment it pops the moment they see "First time here" in chat or that FTB pop up, and it's just it's always a treat. I'd rather stay and help someone out, not for comms, not for the bonus gil, but really for those people who had to sit through the dps queues just for this one fight to continue with the story. Just seems like a disservice to them if you pop out and waste their time on top of the time they used to wait for the fight.

The most important point of the healer is to follow right BEHIND the tank. When he pulls he will need immediate heals, because they try to pull everything and often loose half of their hp with the enemys first volley. That casting timer takes a moment so you have to be right on top of the situation and try and guess when he will stop running/pulling. Its tense when I play DPS, the trust isnt earned if they will heal me or not...its even tenser when I tank, before I run into mobs I always check to see if healer is ready. I hate dying, there is no future in it.

I am levelling an alt to catch up to my daughter's alt (we were levelling together, but then I decided to have irreconcilable differences with my character). I'm up to Tam-Tara Deepcroft. My most recent dungeon/trial experiences have been extremely hit-or-miss, but today Sastasha was okay, nothing too bad to speak of. Tam-Tara was unnervingly excellent, particularly for speed and damage done. It was so good, but at the same time, worrying, because no one in the rest of the group said a thing, and I'm not sure the healer even rolled for loot. Honestly, I'm not even sure at this point if I was playing with bots (I checked them on the Lodestone afterwards, but it doesn't look too likely they were), or if I've just had such awful runs recently I can no longer tell the difference between competence and a programme.

Just got out of a 35 min Pharos Sirius (Normal) run where the DRK's right side was almost all Lvl 1 accessories except for the Aetheryte earrings and a Lvl 18 choker.
Loading and it's a DRK and RDM from the same FC with myself as AST and my FC leader as BRD.

Just a few list of things the DRK did.
    - Never waited for protect. Even after it was pointed out to them after they kept bolting straight into fights and even after we told them to wait for Protect three times.
    - Ran around the corner while having adds on him which meant that I couldn't heal him and we wiped to the FIRST TRASH PULL.
    - Proceeded to only use Shadow Wall as his cool down for mitigating damage for the entire dungeon.
    - Never had Grit and Darkside up. It was either Grit OR Darkside. Even when it was pointed out to them that they could have both, never used it.
    - Wiped 4 times to the 2nd boss because no one was picking up the adds and instantly destroying me.
    - After the 4th wipe, I had lost my cool and said in chat "So does anyone want me to explain how this fight works?" The RDM piped up with "We almost got them down, we got this." (Spoiler alert: we didnt)
    - They also ran into the final boss without their FC friend because their friend was still in the cutscene
    - Also never spoke in the entire run. Just the RDM with the one line.

I wasn't angry with the run overall. I was still healing the same as I always do and they just kept dying.
I've just had a terrible day so far and this just adds onto it.

Speaking of... memorable Orbonne experiences, I had a somewhat surreal one on Tuesday.

It started when I apparently lost my mind and decided to queue up for Mentor Roulette on Machinist (as opposed to RDM or SCH which I quickly regretted not being) and within like a minute, it popped with an in-progress duty over 30 minutes in.

As I pressed the ready button and steeled myself for some unfortunate sprout using Duty Finder to do old Ex Trials, synced Coils or similar oopsies that everyone ends up committing at some point... Imagine my surprise when instead I got plopped into Orbonne, stuck at Cid, with 2 half-empty alliances.

At that time, I still thought to myself, alright, kinda unusual in this day and patch given that everyone's reasonably geared up and all the mechanics have been solved and memorised by the majority of people I run across during my usual weekly runs. Surely, it was easily salvageable, right?

Oh, sweet summer child... you had no idea...

While the other alliances were still filling up, I asked out of curiosity what had happened, thinking that maybe if there were any new players, I could do my mentor obligation and offer advice or at least encouragement. I was immediately met with a response that passive-aggressively threw the party's tank under the bus. That's where I started to worry a bit because while I can explain Cid's mechanics and even call out the next attack in sequence as we go along, I struggle a bit with the mechanics of making petulant adults in an online game talk to each other like civilised people. So I decided to just change the topic and make small-talk. I joked how the situation reminded me of the Orbonne Launch Day and seeing a 30+ minutes in-progress Orbonne stuck on Cid made me feel like I'd travelled back in time.

Oh... oh how right I was. You know what the most authentic part of this time-travel episode was? A small number of people just... failing to learn, failing to improve from pull to pull, repeating the same mistakes, wiping the entire raid, over and over.

So it went on for... 3 pulls, I think? Until the raid disbanded. In between which more people would get replaced and my party's infighting would spill out into the /alliance chat and escalate exponentially. At first, I thought it was unfair that people were piling up on the poor tank who, yes, was failing mechanics by being slow and occasionally refusing to move, but he was hardly responsible for the Crush Weapons getting dragged through the party, Doom not getting healed, bubbles intersecting and the other Alliances failing mechanics in their corner of the map.

At least... I was on his side until he suddenly declared that he'd done this raid a dozen times and never had any issues.

At that point, i lost all sympathy for him. If that was indeed the case, then one has to wonder how he'd managed that without learning any of Cid's tells, what to do with bubbles and what to do with Duskblade. Or for that matter, how to move his character at all.
And if he was a new player seeing this raid for the first time, that was still the worst possible kind of attitude to have. Failing is one thing - one can learn from failures and do better next time - but there is no excuse for refusing to admit failure.

I don't care if someone's doing something for the first time or for the hundredth, if I can see that person doing badly right there on my screen, I expect them to respect my intelligence enough not to try and tell me that they're doing nothing wrong.

I try so hard to take my mentor crown seriously. I give advice when I feel it's needed, I offer encouragement and positive reinforcement when I see people doing well, I use all the tools at my disposal to help, support and make life easier for the party. Most importantly, I do my darnest to execute my own part to absolute perfection, whether it's Sastasha or an Ex Trial, I never ever give less than 100% of the effort required of me. Even then, I'm not perfect, I derp at the silliest and easiest stuff, get distracted all the time, and sometimes panic and mess up. So I understand very well that earnest intentions don't always translate to flawless performance.

But I categorically refuse to carry a dead weight on my back. Even as a mentor, I am under no obligation to put up with being insulted and having my time wasted by someone's half-hearted effort and expectations that things will magically get handled for them.

*Blink* I had like 3-8 second lagspikes yesterday while my provider made repairs to a damaged FO Cab and the Orbonne group I was in still managed to clear with me dying roughly three times on the run because of a really bad lag spike here and there. That one had no excuse they werent trying to learn at all.

Honestly, if i were to que leveling and end up in Tam-Tara i might not roll for loot either(if i did itd be pass all). I dont need anything from there, and if for some reason i did i can unsync it solo just fine. Its possible these people werent native english speakers but highlighted it in game for faster ques. They could even be PS4 players without keyboards who cant chat easily(and who could have been in a voice channel together for all we know). But we can probly rule out bots. My experience from playing and talking to others is that when bots end up in dungeons they behave in very strange ways. Obviously not talking(ok, this isnt all that strange sometimes), activating all cooldowns at once rather then rotating them, odd pathing, and they dont necessarily use an optimal rotation. Bots dont have to play perfectly, they have to play "well enough" either to barely clear something or to get carried by people who dont know or care about the difference.

There isn't anything going on in the three starter dungeons, so most people just quietly faceroll it. 1-3-button-autopilot mode and go. I'm pretty much the same when I hit one of those. And unless there's some low level char with us who might need the loot I often forgot to roll aswell as it doesn't give much via expert delivery and gearing a new class is faster when you just quickly solo it.
So I doubt they were bots. Probably just regular players who were incredibly bored and half-asleep because you only have like 3 buttons at that lvl. Wouldn't put too much thought into it
