Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

You can take your money elsewhere if you want. You not giving SE $13-15 dollars a month isn't going to make a difference in the long scheme of things. You're not entitled to ask for something in a game simply because you pay money. I played World of Warcraft for 14 years and the same crap happened there. SE and this game will be around long after you've gone.

I'm not trying to be rude in saying this, but it's true. Companies shouldn't have to acquiesce to a small minority simply because they're unhappy. ENTITLEMENT

You really don't pay enough for this game to be urging people not to subscribe to this game. At the end of the day, no amount of bootlicking makes the $13-$15 that you pay worth more than the $13-$15 the people that want Male Viera pay. Heck if anything, you devalue your worth as a customer by advocating that others don't use the service as you don't pay enough to offset the loss of even 1 player let alone the many that have expressed support for this option. Also welcome to FFXIV, a game where different content is doled out to enough overlapping interested minorities to keep it afloat.

Hmmm, I think there WOULD be rioting if a male showed up in 5.0 as part of the MSQ (although it would be pretty funny in that it'd invalidate the "but lore!" argument), but a male as part of a sidequest or even the MSQ in 5.1 or 5.2 would actually be reassuring, kind of like Fran showing up in the last tier of Ivalice to tease the Viera (before or after it's officialy confirmed males+femHrtoth are coming).

Even if there's a minor male showing up in a "glimpse and you miss it" part of a side-quest in 5.0 may not be so bad: I personally don't think they have time to cobble together resources to even modify an elezen or Au Ra skeleton before 5.0 release, but MAYBE they could pull a Yugiri on it; that is, have a male Viera/femHrothgar in "disguise" using a modified m!elezen/m!Au Ra/f!Roe and a hood to hide the ears, while they're working on a full model, and just replace the model when it's ready (like Yugiri used a modified miqo'te then her model was replaced when they finalized the Au Ra). This is, of course, conjecture and wishful thinking, of course.

If I am remembering correctly the story itself only has one WoL and it is you, and all other players are kind of supposed to fade into the background as just adventurers. If that is true then a reason for you as a male Viera leaving the wood could be as simple as Hydaelyn called to you and so you left. There doesn't have to really be an explanation for some kind of mass exodus of Viera if they can kind of just pretend that other players kind of don't exist in the world.

I think that there will be at least 1 male Viera that's a somewhat notable character and that 1 patch after that (or maybe even that patch itself) SE will release them

It would be excessive to "riot" if we saw a male viera, we know that they exist. On the other end I would be glad to see one, to see the design.

Don't get your hopes up too much, I doubt we'll get a lot of viera content for 5.0 and if we do get any it'll be female viera cameos, we got a cooouple of au ra show up but mostly as job content in 3.0(NIN job quest, DRK) they weren't really plot important until SB.

I don't have my hopes up too much. By notable character I meant like a sidequest npc or a dungeon npc. Maybe a male viera is burning the forest or something

My theory is that there will be male Viera in the first and we will get them early in the expected anyways. The leaker that got everything right leaked male and female hrotgar on Eden so my guess is that we will also get female hrotgar soon

Anyway, to people making theories on how female Viera and male Viera could be playable... keep in mind that ARR takes place before Stormblood/Shadowbringers. It doesn't quite make sense to make their home be all destroyed before the Ivalice raid, where Fran kinda implies that they're fine.

Sigh I understand you wouldn't like seeing them before 6.0 and it's completely understandable but SE can (and most likely will) prioritize whichever content makes them most money, so male Viera is possibly one of their priorities since it would make them much more money than a dungeon no one is gonna run

It's not a case of not liking to see them before then, but whether they can feasibly drop planned PVE content for the sake of adding a new race in a matter of two and a bit months. Unless they're hiding a surprise, I would not expect them soon. It also then ceases to be a potential selling point for 6.0. I'd like for them to do it as early as 5.0, but it's just not that probable.
