Them sticking to a formula is what made me bored and quit the game for a year. I'm back because my boyfriend kept bugging me to play with him. Not sure how long I'll stick around, though I have enjoyed playing casually.

I'm not saying their content isn't high quality... because it's top notch and above all other MMOs IMO. The formula just gets boring when you've played since ARR launch and never took a break up until stormblood.

P.S. there so many ppl like me who dropped ff then return again to check new content and dropped again, because it is a game - no one makes you sit in a game 24/7 because you owning this game.

For what it’s worth, Little Ladies’ Day is based on a Japanese holiday that is focused on girls, without (from my understanding) an exact counterpart for boys. So that part, at least, isn’t deliberate favouritism - though they could certainly invent an equivalent if they don’t have one. More uniquely Eorzean holidays would be nice.


Also, if you’re letting your house expire, don’t let your furniture go to waste - if you have rights to place furniture in your FC house, that includes items bound to you, and another FC member can then pick them up.

Children's Day (Kodomo no Hi) used to be Boy's Day but was changed in the 1940's, and it currently is part of Golden Week over in Japan. Now that I think about it I'm actually kinda surprised we don't have a Golden Week analogue for FFXIV? Then again it's basically a vacation from I remember reading since it's so many holidays back to back.

You didn't get a title for 2014 LLD event because no one did. The Princess for a Day title is from the 2012 LLD (ver 1.0), which male characters also got a title.

I dunno if you've seen Mr. Happy's interview with Yoshi-p, but they were only going to give us Hrothgar until Viera became waaaaaaaaaay too vocal. The female Viera was easy - everything from conception to finished product was basically done already. But male had to be done from scratch. They still wanted to do Hrothgar tho. so a compromise was made. Perhaps sometime 7.0 ish we'll get the other gender.

lol they wont take that long. They dont need 4 years to do 2 models. The reason why they didnt make them was because they were afraid of having too much gear to ring so if they make them 4 years from now that'll be even worse

This alone is the reason I've not gone one a huge rant on the forums about LLD. I have, however, had a discussion with my daughter about it instead. Frankly, I agree with you about inventing an equivalent: they could just mirror the event but make it available to everyone, and have it based on having respect for each other. Yes, it should be there every day of the year, but here's one day where we really show what it means to be excellent to each other (*air guitar riff*).

Wanted to add, this year LLD did have a brief (very brief) moment where they acknowledged playing as a male character you could be the princess rather than the schestal(i cannot spell this word for the life of me >_>) this was in the repeatable quest in the scene with the songbirds. Now personally i'd like to see that expanded into a LLD main story as when it happened i was screaming YES i am waiting :P but i understand it is based on a real world holiday so nods are probably the best we would get.

Also, unpopular opinion: I would not care in the least if they got rid of Little Ladies' Day and replaced it with a gender-neutral option. Yes I am still mildly annoyed at the 2014 event that gave girls the Princess for a Day title and guys had to settle for that minion. And yes, I am so freaking tired of idol mania (girls and guys alike).

Actually that is not correct, that title was from the Little Ladies day event in 1.0 (2012), and there is a title for male characters from that event, Princess for a Day is the title rewarded to female characters, so both genders got titles.

Something will draw you back here, if not perspective perhaps ..i don't know... something? I mean you don't have to completely write a game off just because you don't agree with it's present designs choices, MMOrpg's aren't supposed to remain static and will continue to change over the time. Some changes may actually align with what you want and you'll probably return at that point, or maybe they won't.

Just don't completely give up on it is all i'm saying, take a nice break, play something you enjoy, and see what the future holds, it may surprise you.

Eureka wasn't done by a tiny minority, it was a gigantic success. It's difficult to see how they won't do it all over again for 5.0. Relics are a big endgame for people who don't do savage. It's amazing that you actually enjoyed atma, books and things over eureka. I prefer and enjoy Eureka personally.

Ultimate started in 4.0; how can you be sure that the dungeons we lost didn't funnel partially into ultimate like it did eureka?

The existing headgears clearly wouldn't work with viera ears but I hear they will add some over time to solve your complaint. Headgear is hardly essential and hides the work you put into your face at character creation.

Yoshi said they started work on viera/hrothgar right after 4.0; he doesn't start things at the last minute.

Every housing zone constitutes a new zone server (like Central Shroud) that is always running on their machines. They can't make unlimited of these. You have apartments. You can also transfer to a low population server, get a house there and then server visit your former server to play with friends.

They do make all the changes people ask for to jobs, it just takes until the next expansion for them to be released. For example, we wanted BRD to lose its cast times, but it took 2 years until the next expansion. Development takes time.

Healers are a prime focus for the expansion. It's been clearly hinted by Yoshi the difference between shield healer and regen healer has to give. Remember they mentioned a barrier meter replacing TP? We may actually get to see how much of our shields are left and top them up when low.

All jobs with issues only get potency adjustments when it's not an expansion. Plenty of jobs other than WAR/AST have had these adjustments between expansions.

They know they will have to go back and redo the ARR quests eventually, but said it will be very expensive so they are waiting for the right time to do it. They're adding New Game+ so you can buy a story skip and then go and redo certain quests and skip the annoying ones.

I don't think the XIV team knows why people find their game fun.

Everyone finds it fun for different reasons, and that is what they acknowledge. They work on many different areas of the game that people find fun like pvp, treasure hunting, housing, hunting, relics, beast tribes, GS, glamour and hildebrand.

At minimum ilvl expert dungeons are really tough, it's just that there's always one or more players in there with their savage BiS gear and melds inflating the DPS and cheesing the mechanics, not to mention factors like tanks and healers DPSing when that's not intended. Leveling dungeons like The Vault, Gubal Library, Bardam's Mettle and others are a good example of what experts can be like at minimum ilvl.
