So much for community spirit. Like I clearly pointed out, I was away. I had a real-life issue (which I won’t be disclosing to a bunch needlessly rude people) which trumped playing FFXIV. My beef is that the event was clearly advertised as finishing at a specific time which then clashed with maintenance. Better planning would have easily avoided this.

Sometimes life is like that but they still gave us plenty of warning in advance. RL takes precedence over any game, so perhaps you were partly the victim of circumstances largely out of your control. The event didn't take very long to do though (seriously, one NPC solves most of the puzzles for you) so there may have been some procrastination at play here as well.

Oh, I knew the 3AM maintenance was coming, just trying to clear up some confusion, as that post appears lower on the list on The Lodestone.
People are most likely clicking the first [Maintenance] post about worlds, and expecting that to be the times.

This is exactly what's going on. It really should have been the first maintenance post up there, at least for NA. My entire FC was confused until one of us looked lower down on the notices, we had no idea the server was going to be down all day.

Shame that the servers had to go down, but hey at least they gave us ample time to prepare for it, on the brighter side of things for me at least this gave me the perfect chance to properly discover the forums.

The one that was shown when people login is the All Worlds Maintenance page as this is also Patch 4.57 maintenance that adds in the World Visit system. Game will be back up 3am PDT or 6am PDT April 23.

Just wanna point out that this might be where some of the confusion is coming from:

Just wanna say, in all fairness, surely much of the confusion is from the All Worlds Maintenance being the one you have to click through to play. NA Expansion is much easier to ignore/overlook by comparison. And, considering all the maintenance notices that got pushed out all at once for 4.57, overlooking NA isn't so unreasonable.

That said, players on NA data centers proooobbbably should've taken special note of that one post buried in there that sounds like it would be important and probably affect them.
