More Retainer and Character Inventory space in 5.0?

Does SE have any plans on increasing the inventory space on our Retainers/Armory Chest/Character Inventory space/Saddlebag?

Collecting all these glamour gear for all jobs is taking up so much space plus all the crafting mats. It would be great if we got more space for 5.0

Considering they increased Armoury Chest space in 4.0 because we got new jobs, I'd expect the same thing to happen again. Personal inventory not so sure about, but the Saddlebag seems like the easiest thing to increase but obviously that has its own limitations. Retainers who knows, I'd like more inventory space on current ones as opposed to more free retainers but if they give us more then is better then nothing. The Dresser is expected to get some improvements so that should be the main thing for your glamour stuff.

Definitely need more Armory Chest space. Belts are the only gear category that have no visual. Though I would like to have visible belts, at least when wearing simpler body and pants, It seems to me rolling the belt stats into body pieces and eliminating belts as items might be one way to free up inventory.

Since my retainers are holding a lot of stuff I would like to put in the glamour dresser increasing the Glamour Dresser would be great.

Things they can do to help with space:

* Turn the "Off-hand" section of the Armoury Chest into "Tools" section. Since currently, it's literally just used for DoH/DoL off-hand tools and PLD shields (Back in ARR it was also used for CNJ/WHM and THM/BLM shields, but they've since scrapped the notion of those jobs using 1h + shield). This would allow you to fill this section with all your DoH/DoL tools, freeing a bunch of space in the "Main Hand" section to consist of all your DoW/DoM weapons.

* Allow more things to be put into the Armoire. Let us put level 60 Antiquated gear in there (Also, RDM, SAM and BLU starter gear). Let us put Relics in there (Zodiac weapons, Anima weapons, Eureka weapons and armour). Let us put gear obtained through MSQ in there (Scion Adventurer's gear and Scion Traveller's gear)

* Consolidate Rings down to a single item slot. Not only is this a pain when gearing (Especially as everything is Unique so you can't even buy 2x Tome rings to fully equip yourself), but it takes up a TON of room. Literally Rings are the section of my Armoury Chest that overflows the most, due to needing 2x every ring in there... (With Main Hand being the secondary concern due to having literally one unique MH item per class in the game)

* Consolidate fishing baits down to a reasonable amount. In lieu of a tacklebox... The amount of room taken up by simply keeping fishing bait around (Especially since not all baits can just be bought from a vendor, some have to be crafted) is absurd.

* Make Relic specific items go into the "Key Items" section. As someone who's working on Zodiac, Anima and Eureka weapons for all jobs, a lot of my inventory is full of all the knick-knacks that are only relevant for Relic quests. Meanwhile, I have all of like 5-6 things in my "Key Items" section that appears to be equivalent in size to my actual inventory...

They need to just make the glamour system better. Similiar to GW2 and WoW. You collect a piece of gear, its added to a tab which means you permanently have the appearance.

Having my retainers and chocobo saddlebag full of glamour gear just doesn't feel good.

They need to seriously fix this in 5.0

They need to go all in with the glam dresser.

And more plates too, one for each job (including crafters/gatherers)

While we most definitely need more spaces and options.. I don't think they're willing or have the option to entirely rewrite the gear and glamour systems for this expansion. There's apparently still a lot of weird checks and data back and forth between character and playing servers that makes expansion and "log" style glamours difficult.

It would also be REALLY helpful if the glam dresser was a personal housing item. As is, I never use the inn so I have to go out of the way to use the glam dresser to "save" my equipment. And if I'm in Kugane and I run out of glamour prisms at the dresser or I need to get some dye, it's a long run to the Market Board, which is a frustrating way to handle inventory management.

And I do wish they'd give us a 3rd retainer for free, there's 3 gathering jobs for the retainers to do, so it's really awkward just having 2.

It would be nice to at least hang more ring slots. We have to wear two at all times, but they get the same amount of armory space as everything else. I can't even clear mine out at all because every single ring is in a gear set.

WHile I'm gonna say yes another free retainer would be most welcome.. I gotta say my fishing retainer is probably the most useless. I use hunting more than fishing.

People are usually referring to the way the old system doesn't translate well or easily to an entirely different games system.. Go take a look at old developer posts about why the inventory was changed to the new way it displays and why you can't change glamours outside cities for more actual technical information. The system has a lot of problems because it still holds a lot of structure from the old , very badly thought out, inventory system and reworking it involves ripping out and writing in an entirely new system and reference for items and appearances. If you want a TLDR: Far too much cost and labor for the company to even consider.
