I keep seeing the wolf face being mentioned lately. Are you sure that wasn't a mistranslation?
Also, the Viera are looking great. The development team should pat themselves on the back for such awesome work.
Here is the part where they talked about Viera and Hrothgar customization. I'm not sure if they talked about it elsewhere.

Thankyou for the link and timepoint to start from. Here is the part where they talked about Viera and Hrothgar customization. I'm not sure if they talked about it elsewhere.

Dot points on screen:
- Both have unique heads
- Both have unique customizable features
2:03:40
So both have very unique heads, as you can see - and so because of this, both have very unique customizable features, things that you won't see in any other races.
2:04:15
It's like I mentioned - with the character creation it will be very detailed - the people checking on this character creation right now, there are so many different options that the guy checking that right now basically has not come out of his booth.
2:05:40
So we talked the character customisation, how deep it is - we actually created two characters here with that customisation, and these are some of the things you can make if you try hard... [shows Kimahri and Fran pictures]
2:06:12
Again, we talked about how face patterns and designs... a lot of very unique options for players to choose from.
2:06:40
(Yoshida moves onto the next part of the keynote.)
As I've been saying - they talk a lot about unique options, and they do say that there are a lot of design options that they need to check, but they do not at any point say there will be a larger number of design elements than other races have. (I'm sure there are a lot of things to test and get right, even with the same amount of features that the normal races have.)
People hear what they want to hear, and these ambigous statements get taken as promising additional customisation, and it gets passed on as "they said it in the keynote!" without anyone actually confirming the original quotes.
And then, most likely, we get another round of angry posts claiming "they lied to us!!!" when we finally get to see the full extent of customisation and it doesn't have the extra features that everyone "knew" had been officially promised, even if nobody could provide a direct source.

I point it out because this was used as a sign of how unique they're head options will be.
Iirc she said you can turn bangs on or off. That's why everyone reacted to her statement. They show 4 different versions of 1 hairstyle leading me to believe that they're gonna have ways to control that. Having a system in place for that would hint that the amount of bangs and other options you can have will be large enough that it would be too much needless clutter the current way.
Who knows how deep it goes. They said that they put tons of effort and care into these 2 races heads and they'd prob want Viera to have options on par with HROTHGAR. Given their appearance I'd think hair and ears are the likely options for unique customization.
We can only wait.

Looking at the HROTHGAR I'd say they have more options than most any race from what we've seen so far.
Plus last new race we got was given some cool new level of customization with the eye rings.
Here is the discussion about the Hrothgar heads. It came from an interview and this translation. Someone could double check the translation.

"Q: Why were you so insistent on adding a beast-like race, the Hrothgar?
A: The great thing about MMORPGs is that people from around the world with different values and tastes can all come together and play. FF games have good-looking men and women, but FFX is an example of a stronger look. Guin Saga may be a better example, but at any rate, since we're creating a fantasy, I want to shine a spotlight on that aspect as well. Even if we added another handsome race, it felt like the only real difference would be the ear shape. Back when we showed off a basic sketch of a wolfman, a lot of players around the world voiced their desire for a wolf race in 4.0. At our current patch rate, with that much equipment data being released, and adding a new race multiplying the amount of work required, we could probably only add one more race with our current workflow. We agonized over which race to add, and ended up with what you see now, and the lion T-shirt I'm wearing now *laughs*
Q: With the two new races' unique heads, how will their headgear work?
A: It won't be displayed, because those face parts wouldn't work in FFXIV's system if headgear were involved. Even Viera ears would've had to be moved down to where Miqo'te ears are. It would've been meaningless if you couldn't go all-out creating characters from these new races, so we decided that helmets wouldn't be necessary. You can equip them, but they won't be displayed. However, things that replace the head are OK, like the snowman head, fat chocobo head, etc. No glasses. Basically, the default is that it won't be shown, and only things that replace the head are ok. We'll make more things compatible over time, bit by bit, but they won't be compatible at launch.
Q: Are there NPC Vieras that wear glasses?
A: Even if they tried to make them, I think I would've stopped them. It leads to players complaining that the NPC can wear them but they can't. I want to think of a way to reduce development costs for this eventually when the dev team isn't so busy.
Q: When did you decide to implement the female-only Viera and male-only Hrothgar?
A: It was during Return to Ivalice, around 3 months after 4.0. Viera was confirmed then, and Hrothgar came about at the same time when we were discussing plans with Matsuno-san. We were deciding whether to make a Hrothgar female or a Viera female, and after selecting Viera, work began right away, because otherwise we wouldn't make it in time. As mentioned before, the face parts are special and Hrothgar has big differences between its faces, like a lion face, wolf face, leopard face. It became a fixed model relatively recently. Viera was done right before Paris Fan Fest, and Hrothgar was done recently."

@Taybat and the people that liked your post: If it takes that much work and resources to make children of a race, just try to imagine the amount of work required to make a fully customizable adult race.(00:40:58)
Q: I like playing as a Roegadyn, could you share any details on how Roegadyn children might look?
A: I also personally like playing as a Roegadyn, so this interests me as well. I’ve tried to bring them up during development in the past, but apparently, this is limited to one race at a time due to the amount of resources required to create them. So first they lost to Miqo’te children, then they lost to Auri Children… so they’ve lost twice so far. I have a personal interest in them as well, so I’d like to discuss this with Quest Designer Takayanagi.
That quote comes from here.
Thank you for finding that.

"There are so many different options"
"A lot of very unique options"
Right in front of my salad?!
Sorry, I'm not going to continue because what they say and your answer makes everything as clear as water.
furthermore they should know by now making ambiguous statements is bad.
