Apology for what?

Basically, during an interview, just after fan fest, Yoshi-P acknowledged that the backlash was partially their fault. He pointed the finger a little bit more on the job speculating side, but the race issue falls into that category. He said something along the lines of releasing a bit more relevant info, next time, so as to avoid large backlashes like this one. The example I think said something like letting us know if we are getting a new healer job, so the players can speculate on just the job and not the role and job, and get annoyed by both..

I say "apology" only because we are expecting a statement to acknowledge and validate our feelings on what happened. It's not like they will actually say sorry and fall to their knees begging for forgiveness. Or maybe they will, it is Japan, lol.

One thing to note though, is how the media leading up to and between the last two fan fests was handled. That's part of the reason the backlash was so great. It might not of been intentional, but it was manipulative. Which goes back to them realizing they need to be upfront with some more info from the start.

If they were going to release an apology they would have done so long ago. Similar to the White Raven earrings incident and what happened during BA release. It would have been along the lines of "We're sorry for the confusion that we caused...." and either "we might consider adding the missing genders based on feedback/demand" or "Currently we have no plans of addressing this issue". But they won't confirm if they're doing it for sure, since that will be a bigger liability on them if they didn't deliver it due to any kind of resource limitations.

You are right. I was mostly using "apology" in a figurative sense, since it's supposed to "appease us". We do know a statement is coming, but when.

Truthfully, my initial rage has subsided. Plus it's not like I was gonna change; was mostly upset for a friend. But reminding SE about things like this usually pans out... right?

That just seems petty

If people want to ask for them to be added that's one thing, but wanting to rail at them for "manipulating" them, don't see how that's ok.

I think more like you're going to piss off people no matter what you do. I've seen so many things that really had little to no detriment get absolutely lambasted on these forums because it wasn't what that particular segment of the playerbase wanted .. or it wasn't what they envisioned. Sad really. Looking forward to the new expansion though, YORHA!~

If you think about it, they made the choice that will please more people than those that will be enraged. Just imagine the uproar if they gave the opposite genders instead.
