A lot people will say people shouldn't make assumptions, but these people I ask - what are you pre-ordering based on, then? Even going by what we know of the specific expansion, there's a lot of expectations involved. That the Nier raid and Eden story will be loyal and on-par with what they're based on/tributes for. That the story will progress with at least the same quality as the game did so far (assuming you cared for it and approved of it). You assume they won't completely trash the job you're currently maining. You assume gameplay will still be enjoyable. There are a lot of assumptions involved when people come to pre-order ShB, them not introducing genderlocks after removing genderlocks on their previously locked races was one of them. It is not more or less fair than any other assumption.

I haven't been following this news since I don't really care for Viera (although it does give female Miqote a run for their money) since I prefer to stick to my original look. But I do heard that the devs are looking into this based on the other thread here AKA the 'Please Respond to our request' thread.

If so, I wonder how are they going to change the race lore in future, especially since they have already have a lore set in place for these races.

Lore was never a problem because the only PC that matters to the lore is the one each player plays at that particular moment. WHM is one of the most singular things in the game but you can go into a raid and find six of them, not a single one Padjali.
Also, the lore for male Miqo'te, at least the Keeper ones, is still what it was when they used it to justify that genderlock, despite them being long since playable. If there's any lore that should be changed, and that is regardless of if they're playable or not, it's female Hroths', due to too many unfortunate implications (and by changed I also mean expanded upon to explain how the species survives with so few females, and given they're still humanoid, I should hope we're not dealing with pregnancies that bear 5-6 children at a time)

tl;dr lore was never a problem because other PCs don't count, and the WoL is an exception to everything by definition of being the PC

I too wonder why people are talking about male viera instead of the data center split in a thread about male viera.

Ehh. The same I could say about people hoping for opposite genders, or rather male Viera only, at patch 5.1.

I was just pointing out that time is pretty short and working on a gender that has no real appearance will take a lot of time. Lets not forget that dev teams start working on the next expansion already, or lets say that Yoshida is planning the 2 next years ahead.

I would also rather have male Viera be polished and with proper texture/physicks than being half-baked added. But thats just my opinion. Also would appreciate if people could be a bit more realistic.

And now there are people who are disappointed and can no longer cancel their preorders because of it.

If just an assumption was enough to make you sign on the dotted line then, call me heartless, but I feel like you kinda fooled yourself. I mean, if it was that important to someone, they really should sure it was a certainty before pre-ordering. But see, from my perspective, the people are getting exactly what they were promised in the pre-order: the little bonuses. Once you've redeemed it, you can't take it back.

To be honest, seeing just females in the trailer set off a bunch of alarms in my mind. Staying tight lipped about male viera would be so weird if they were in the making already.

Both these statements hold true to Hrothgar as well. They were not done in time for Paris so they were not shown yet, nor did SE say anything about them, save for conspiracy theories about the bug and leaks, which people might not have been privy to.
As far as what SE said, male Hrothgar and male Viera are exactly the same, only giving us one goes back on the precedence set when they removed genderlocks while the other is in line with it and therefore made more sense to people.

Agreed, it doesn't have to be right now but the majority of the community doesn't want genderlocked races.

Big difference being that Hrothgar are an entirely different race. Showing them at another fan fest is not surprising in the least; it would be the same old drip fed hype. I mean, they have talked about things before when they weren't quite ready in time for like a proper teaser (I think they did it for pvp or something). When they showed Au ra, it was both males and females at the same time, that they would only show only the female viera now and then the males later would be very strange, especially since they didn't want to comment on the males.

I concede your point in that it would've made more sense to co-reveal them together at Tokyo, but at the end of the day, I find that reintroducing genderlocks is the bigger strangeness of this fiasco. And their decision to not say a solid no remains a fault in how they handled the situation. I understand why they did every single thing they did so far - I simply resent them for it and think many mistakes were made.
